Is she going to hate me when she's older if I name her this? What kind of girl do you think of when you hear the name Penelope? I love it but I've been saying it to myself so often that I might be losing perspective. Smile

I like Penelope but am soooo over Claire (and Grace and Faith - to me they are the trifecta of boring filler middle names). Agree that Penelope has many good nick names.

Penelope is our girls name of choice. I don't see how you can go wrong with it since there are a million nick names to choose from if she doesn't like Penelope. She can switch to Penny, Pen, Poppy, Polly, Elle, Ellie, Nelle, Nellie, and the list goes on.

I agree that Claire doesn't really do it for me, but if it means something to you then go for it.

I went to grade school/high school with a girl named Penelope. She was teased relentlessly. It was awful. I think if you have that name you have to be "the" popular girl. Otherwise, she might be an outcast- just because of her name.

I knew a girl in HS whose name was Penelope, but she went by Nelle, and I loved it!

It's on my list, but I know it won't fly with DH.

Love Penelope! I love names like that...Calliope, Persephone, etc. that end with an E and have the "ee" sound, not silent.

I love it...we were considering it but then nixed the idea b/c our last name starts with a "P" too, and when we said it a few times, we realized it made her sound like a cartoon character. But I think it's an adorable and unique name!
