Hey ladies, I just got a call from the results of my second trimester blood test. I tested postive for a chance of down syndrome, 1 in 85. I am scheduled tomorrow for an amniocentesis in the morning. I am really upset about these results, a normal range for a woman my age would be 1 in 200, so my results seem really scary. I am also scared of the amnio. I would appreciate any advice at this point, I really don't know what to think, feel or expect.
Re: 39 years old, 17 weeks, positive blood test results for chance of downs, amnio in the morning.
My advice would be to hope for the best and try not to Google too much.
I know that is an alarming thing to hear but like pp said the odds are definitely in your favor. Take care of yourself and keep us posted. I'll be thinking about you, your SO and LO. [-O<
I'm 28 and expecting my 3rd child. Our NT scan was perfect and I'm not AMA, but our bloodwork came back with 1:30 odds for downs. We did the materni21 test and it came back normal.
Try not to worry too much, if I had it to do over, I wouldn't do the genetic testing.
Thoughts and prayers!
ETA: I didn't read that you've got results already! Glad to hear!
