Car Seat

My daughter does not like sitting in her car seat. Once I put her in she turns and stands. It is a real struggle getting her buckled sometimes it takes me a half an hour to get her buckled in. I try to give her a book or something to distract her it does not work. Any suggestions she is fifteen months by the way. Thanks.

Re: Car Seat

  • If your car seat allows it per the car seat manual, try adjusting the seat to a different setting. We found that our daughter likes the setting that leans back a little more.

  • Thanks for the advice.I will try this I will also see if their is a connection with being tired too.
  • I know it sounds hard but letting it take a half hour just gives her a feeling of power.  Bounce bounce to the car we go!  Fly UP! Fly IN! (and then fast as lightening you get the harness over the shoulders, snap snap click click and call it a day :)

  • I don't offer a toy until the kid is strapped in.  Honestly, if my kids fight I say "You're getting strapped in.  You can either help or I'll do it anyway".  Sometimes that means I pin them down but usually they listen because they know I'll follow through.  I'm not sure how she has time to get to a standing position.  I start strapping right away by that age.

She turns the second I put her in. She is one strong baby even my husband struggles putting her in the car seat. The second we put her in she turns her body and stands so we can't strap her in. I'm not exaggerating the last time it took thirty minutes which is way too long.
