on the Santa note...

Is this worth a note/call to the teacher? Or am I looking into it too much?

Nikita came home from school excited that they all got letters back from Santa. She then told me that it says she will get the Wii U she asked for.

Excerpt from letter
"I see you want a Wii. My elves will be working on that tomorrow."

Guess what's not waiting under the tree...

Re: on the Santa note...

  • Why would they do that??

  • Thankfully she sent a letter from home to santa...and she is getting things off that list. So I will be able to make it work...but still. Other kids might not be so lucky.
  • @PickleX‌ even a sentence in between the wish and the one about the elves would have made a difference. Make it sound like the elves are working on gifts / toys/ lists/ etc... not the specific one listed.
  • Whoa. Yeah bad decision on the teachers part.

  • I would be upset with the teacher! You don't want a disappointed little girl on Christmas!
  • ^ what everyone else said. I'd be mad too and would say something to the teacher. Not cool.
  • As a teacher, we've done letters to Santa every year (our academic focus is opinion writing). However, it is completely left up to the student who they write to. Sadly, most of my impoverished 6 year olds already know there is no santa and flat out tell the kids that do still believe.

  • Same school that didn't do Christmas Carols for their winter concert.
Well, that is just completely bizarre. So secular Christmas is okay, but not religious Christmas.

  • What teacher does that? I'd totally make sure that the school knew, especially if they nixed Christmas carols.

p.s. - what did they sing?
  • @EagleWife‌ they did a story type thing called flakes. They sang about being snowflakes.
  • She did apologize. They send them somewhere that she believes retired teachers write the responses. But they should know better too.

Not sure if she will tell them of their...mistake...or not.
  • Even I, as a young first time mom (new to Santa) think this is stupid. Does she have no common sense? A simple, thank you for your letter my elves are working on SOMETHING for you now would be ok. Pick words wisely lady. (Or man whichever it is)
