What's cooking for Christmas eve and Christmas?

I'm curious what everyone is eating for Christmas eve, Christmas morning and Christmas dinner!

We had our big dinner this weekend when family were in town (beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes, veggies) so our real Christmas meals be more low key...heavy apps on Christmas eve, cinnamon rolls and breakfast casserole on Christmas morning not sure about Christmas dinner yet!

  • We have to have food?

My mom is making turkey for dinner on Christmas Day. But before then? No idea. I'm hoping DH will have some ideas. (He won't).

  • Christmas eve is spent with DH's family. They serve a huge buffet of food and what they make varies. They usually do turkey or ham and there's a bunch of sides (casseroles, fruit/veggie trays, dips, you name it.)

Christmas morning we host a little brunch at our house so the grandparents can watch DS open presents. I make coffee and we're serving cinnamon rolls and sausage rolls.

Christmas dinner is at my parents. Dad is making beef tenderloin.

    Thanks. Now I'm f'n hungry.

  • As we are doing our very first Christmas at home (just us, mom, dad, and little sister), it is a battle between my mom, who has been doing Christmas brunch at her house for 30 years and dinner for at least the last 5, and DH, who is keen on making our own traditions.  All of which means there is going to be a ton of to-die-for food and I won't have to lift a finger.  :-bd

No idea about Christmas Eve...will update if we do anything special.

Christmas Morning: My mom makes this egg and sausage casserole; OMG, I love it so much.  She is bringing it with her for breakfast/brunch.  DH bought cinnamon rolls that we will have as well.  We (mom) also traditionally have a couple of breads and types of cookies out; I have three kinds of breads and several types of cookies from friends and neighbors bringing baby gifts, so those are all going out.  Maybe a fruit salad.

Christmas Dinner: DH is making a prime rib (first time ever - fingers crossed!) and mashed potatoes; we told my mom she can bring whatever else she wants.  I know she is bringing pumpkin pie, and she'll probably bring another side or two, and rolls.

  • On Christmas Eve we go to my uncle's house and order pizza. I don't know why or how that got started, but we've been doing it for as long as I can remember. Everyone brings something too, so there are usually chips, cookies, etc.

We never did a big breakfast for Christmas, so it'll just be fruit or cereal like usual. My IL's have Christmas dinner (I think they do turkey, mashed potatoes, etc.). And my mom is having us over for supper- just sandwiches, chips and salsa, stuff like that. We will have both eaten a big lunch so no one will be hungry for a big supper too.

Christmas eve, my mom is making chicken Alfredo, beef stirfry, a ham/potato casserole and lots of appetizers. This is with her siblings, they alternate whose house, this year it is my mom's, otherwise, we don't generally go.

Christmas breakfast is at the in-laws. Probably, ham bacon, sausage and pancakes.

Christmas dinner is just dh, my kids and my parents, at their house. It will be a smaller scale thanksgiving like meal.

And just because, tonight is Dino nuggets. Dh has my gifts, unwrapped, in the garage, where all my meat is in the deep freeze.
  • We're heading to my parents' tomorrow for the next couple of days.  My mom usually makes tourtiere (traditional French Canadian meat pie) but there will be twelve of us and she's only made one pie for some reason, so my sister and I are making spiral ham, too.

Christmas morning I'll probably make my usual cheese and bacon muffins, then Christmas dinner is turkey.

the side dish for the ham is so yummy - Potatoes Romanoff.  You mash potatoes and add sour cream, grated cheddar and chives, more cheddar on top and then bake it.  Yummmmmm

Christmas eve with family we're doing a New York roast beast, ham, side stuffing, mash, green bean casserole, many wine and champagne, all the things.

ETA Christmas morning we must have Christmas Crunch. Always.

Christmas day we take the older kids up to their grandparent's place to spend the week, and then we hit the Chinese buffet. Ahhhh yeeeeeeeah. LOL

  • Christmas Eve dinner is always apps/chocolate fondue.

Christmas breakfast DH insists we have croissants. I'm adding ham and cheese to make it interesting.

We're actually doing tonight as Christmas Eve because DH works Christmas. So we did apps and fondue tonight. We're going to a friends house tomorrow for meat pie and homemade perogies. Actual Christmas dinner we're going to the same friends house for turkey dinner. We don't have family close by so we're starting traditions with our friends in town. Family is comig on the weekend.

  • Christmas Eve we're doing raclette (google Raclette to see what it is), which is a German/Swiss/French thing. We gave my parents a raclette grill a few years ago, so we're going to break it out again.
Christmas morning will probably be low-key, although I may make cinnamon rolls because I have a recipe that's to die for. For lunch we're doing turkey & co.

What is Christmas Crunch? I am intrigued.

I do Christmas Eve dinner. I'm making a ham, a delish mac and cheese recipe courtesy of @Byebyebooze, sweet potato casserole, and a salad with granny smith apples, walnuts, cranberries, etc. Dessert is cheesecake and we will pop some hot cocoa cookies in the oven for DS and Santa.

Christmas morning I'm doing a cinnamon roll monkey bread, scrambled eggs, and my mom is bringing sausage balls. So good.
