Darker Areoles/Nipples

My nipples went from Caramel color to Dark Chocolate and almost Black!! Is that Normal? Will it stay or go away?

    As far as I'm aware, this is fairly common in pregnancy.

    ETA: I just googled this. Took me 30 seconds. This is normal.

  • Absolutely normal that happens in pregnancy to prepare you for breastfeeding. The darker the nipples the easier baby can find them when it's born.

  • Since we're on the subject of nipples...can I get any recommendations for lotion? I'm using cocoa butter but it's not really helping. Should I get something with lanolin?
  • It does sound silly, but I remember reading about that possibly being an evolutionary cause. A quick google search brought up some sites who mention it.

  • I've read this somewhere too but truth be told, you have to guide baby to nipple anyway - so if you don't darken, it's not a huge deal.
