Baby jail

So my son can escape his crib now. Do I bite the bullet, put on the toddler rail and deal with a sick midget wandering around my house? Or put pillows around his crib and try to keep him in longer?

Re: Baby jail

  • Tiny terror just figured it out two nights ago. We flipped his crib around so the higher side is at the front. He hasn't figured it out yet and don't see that happening for a while since even I can hardly climb out now without falling and I am far from short.

Kieran has never been in a sleep sack so needless to say he'd try to tear my eyes out if I did that ;)

I am thinking about maybe bumping his bedtime back an hour and seeing what happens. It just seems like 9:00 is awfully late for a two year old.

I asked this same question on facebook and friends of mine basically said put him a toddler bed, baby proof the room and put a baby gate in the doorway.

I'm still pinging back and forth on what I want to do. His crib turns into a toddler bed so if I transition him into it now he'll have plenty of time before the next baby comes when I'll need the crib back.

Edit: Our crib does have a higher side....so that is an option.

  • OH MY...I am hoping my kiddo doesn't try to climb out. He is still in a sleep sack, I think that helped us too.

  • We switched DS2 to a mattress on the floor this weekend and he's done great. I worried with DS1 as well but he adjusted well also. Maybe that's one area my kids have decided to give me a break! ;) DS2 hasn't tried to leave his room even though he can open doors now (GAH). If he starts wandering, we will put a knob cover on the inside of his door...good luck on what you decide! For me I just prefer to get the transition over with once they start making the leap (literally!)
