my DH is convinced we need the house warm for the girls. Last night he had the thermostat at 75!!! I am dying. They already sleep in onesies + fleece foot jammies + a blanket.

Re: What temp is your house?

  • Daytime is set for 70. Between 10 pm and 6 am it's set for 64.

    75 is bananas!

I put 72-73, but the actual temperature varies. We live on the middle floor in an apartment complex so in the winter we don't even have to turn on our heat most days (even though we live in Michigan and it does get cold). We are somewhat protected from heat loss because of people living above and below us.

DH and I are gamers and we have big computers that put out stupid amounts of heat, so even with the heat left off, it can get as hot as 78 or so in the winter. We turn off the computers overnight and the temperature drops down to about 68. If we need to cool the place off in the middle of the day we just crack the patio door. Yeah, we're cheap bastards... ;)

  • 68 during the day. I think it drops to 62 at night but I've been turning it up because it's cold in the kids' room.

  • Thermostat is set to 68 but every time I cook the house gets up to 75. I hate it. We have a gas stove (which I love but...) and it kicks out a lot of heat! I prefer it to be cooler than 70.

  • I voted hades because I don't know the actual temp. We don't run the ax constantly nor doe we need heaters (clearly). When it's ridiculously hot we do turn on the ac though.
  • 21, who wants to do the math for me.

  • When we're home it's set to 68 but it's really around 65 in the house - especially upstairs. We do use a space heater in Liam's room and keep his room between 68-72. When we're gone/sleeping the house goes down to the low 60s.

  • 70 according to google
  • I would keep mine at 68 if everyone else in my house would let me. 73 is as high as I can go.

  • I just can't deal with being cold, and anything 70 or below feels cold to me. I know I could put on extra layers and socks in favor of turning up the thermostat, but that's just a constant battle between being lazy and being cheap.

  • I never set the ac below 73 but I live in FL.
  • 70 during the day and 72 at night. Thermostat is on the top floor so the two lower levels are more like 68-69 .
  • 68 during the day and 63 at night. I'm usually cold but DH is warm and LO seems to run warm like her dad so I've learning to just layer.
  • Our thermostats are at 68 & 70, but upstairs in the bedrooms it's much cooler. DD2's room never makes it above "Antarctica."

We had a burst pipe last winter too, 100+ year old house here as well. Our laundry room is a poorly insulated addition to the house and we learned our lesson on skimping with the heater in there!

We have our house set at 72 during the day and 67 at night, with extra heaters running in the laundry room and sun porch.
  • 68 when we are home during the day, 63 otherwise

  • 69 during the day, 66 at night. We used to have it at 64 at night but I was tired of freezing my balls off during motn feedings. Wifey always gets her way ;)
  • 65 all the time. We live in an upper though so it stays pretty warm.
  • Our heat heats really quick so we leave it around 66 but the house usually is around 69 or 70.

If you read baby articles it says temperatures should be between 68 and 72 degrees

I'm always cold but 75 is to damn hot tell your husband to buy some fuzzy socks and sweat pants

  • When DS was a baby we rented an adorable 1920s bungalow that had very little insulation and it really got freezing in the winter - even though it was Texas so it wasn't truly super freezing. I never put a space heater in his room b/c I was worried about fires and DS always got by with fleece footies and those sleep sack thingies and often times a hat.  I don't remember exactly how cold it was, I just know I always layered up and invested in fuzzy socks.

LOL! I will. I sneak behind him and turn it down to 70.
