Bladder infection/vaginal yeast infection

Tumaini has redness in the vagina area, and complains that it hurts after she pees. Also, yesterday, she had a few "accidents"; that hasn't happened in a while, but no accidents at all today. However, she's really good at peeing in the potty without me noticing and doesn't wipe herself afterwards. I wash her a few times a day, and wipe her well (I hope) when she tells me she's going to the potty, or when I see her going in the washroom. Should I consult her doctor? Or should I just take better care of my daughter's private parts?

Edited because I mistranslated what I meant to say, which was probably bladder infection and not vaginal yeast infection... Google is more helpful now.

Re: Bladder infection/vaginal yeast infection

  • Hmm. Do you have any of the ointment for yeast infections?  I would probably try some Nystatin on it first. If it did not clear up in a day or two then I would call the doctor. If it hurts to pee it could also be a bladder infection. Those usually hurt when you pee and make you go more often.

  • I called the nurse helpline, and since she doesn't have any other symptoms, doesn't complain everytime she goes to the potty, and doesn't go more often than usual, they think it's probably just because she wasn't wiped correctly and has a bit of a rash.

However, they recommended bringing her in anyway, because our only options if it gets worse tomorrow or Thursday will be to bring her to the hospital. There's a minimum of a four hour wait at all the clinics in the city today, and I'm home alone with both babies. I'm leaning more towards waiting at home at this point, and bringing her to the hospital if need be...
