My home poisoned me and possibly my baby

wanted to post a special blog to make people aware of a really scary situation that recently occurred in my family.

I moved to Boston with my husband not too long ago, and am 6 months pregnant. After moving in, we realized there were a few things we had to fix up (not out of the ordinary,) some rooms needed new paint jobs, some windows needed replacing, etc. I wasn't involved in any of these renovations myself. To make a long story short, after we began these changes, I went for a check-up at the my OBGYN, and she found a startling amount of lead in my blood. Luckily I caught it early on, but the effects of the lead on my baby is unknown. The loose paint and windows created lead particles that I was breathing in. My family was heartbroken- we had no knowledge of lead in the home.

For all you moms (or future) out there, please please make sure you get this checked out if you have any concern or question if lead exists in your home.

We got a lead inspection immediately, and then EDITED BY MOD: SPAM

Re: My home poisoned me and possibly my baby

  • I hope you and your baby are okay.  I've never heard of any OB running a routine lead test on an expectant mother.  What prompted your doctor to do this?  In any case, I really do hope everything is okay!

(Just a heads up that this post reads a little like "spam" given the "they offer financing" plug for the lead remediation company you hired.  If this post gets reported/deleted as spam, you might want to repost it without the name-dropping, so that the important part of your message comes through. And again, absolute best of luck to you and your baby!)

  • This is BS. Lead paint isn't common anymore and I don't know any docs that do routine lead testing and I'm a nurse..

  • Spammy as hell
  • You sign a paper acknowledging the possibility of lead in any home built before 1978 (I think that was the year, but I may be off). I used to rent in Boston and signed many of these.  SPAM!
