Cloth Diapering

CDing at the hospital.

Hello everyone! Im a FTM due in 2 days , and am in need of some advice. I want CDs to be the only diaper my LO will wear so i plan  to start right at the hospital. Now I have no idea what to expect in the first day or so. Ive read that babies first poop is a sticky mess to work with..; tips on that? would liners help ? .. how many would you say is a good amount to have to bring , currently i have 6 xs pockets and 18 newborn prefolds and 2 covers packed. How did you manage ? Put them all in the wet bag and nothing more to it ? ..   Help please :)

Re: CDing at the hospital.

  • The meconium washes out just like any other water soluble poop. It stained, but then it sunned out just fine. I was in the hospital for 15 hours, and did not go through all 8 of the diapers I brought. If you live close to the hospital, you can always send someone home for more. They don't really pee or poop so often the first day when they're only eating colostrum. I brought my smallest diapers and diapers with the cord snap to accomodate her cord.

  • What Maple said. I ended up with an unexpected emergency c-section and was in the hospital for 4 days. There was no way cloth would have worked for us.

I sincerely hope that all goes as planned for you, but just be open to other things if it doesn't. Having sposies on your baby for a few days isn't going to hurt if its necessary.
