O Angst

Argh! Last month I felt like I might have missed my O by testing too late and I hadn't been temping either.  So now I've been faithfully temping and decided to start testing with OPK early just to be sure I didn't miss it. This morning I tested on 2 different brand OPK strips. I had a couple left from one brand so I was just curious to see if there was any difference. I tested positive on one, negative on the other. Sigh. So then I tested using the digital OPK and got a flashing smiley face, meaning high fertility. 

I'm only CD5 and FF says I shouldn't O until the 13th. My cycle is pretty regular at about 28 days.  Anybody have anything like this as far as early O?  Any idea what it's all about

    Welcome to the world of ambiguity with OPK's... sorry about the difficulties.  I would just say that it is possible to have multiple lh surges without ovulation occurring and also one reason I would never, even just bc I have them, use multiple types of opk's bc more questions arise than are answered.  I would continue temping and testing with the opk you are/were originally planning to utilize and see how the cycle pans out.  I do find it very odd that you have such a positive appearing opk on cd5, but anything is possible.  Wish you well!

    Thanks, I am going to stick with the ones I have been using so far even though I'll have to buy another package of them to get through the rest of the cycle. So annoying!  I guess all I can do is wait and see what my temps do. Thank god I have been temping.

    I haven't really used any OPK's since I started temping. I also use my CM as a good indicator, along with the temping. 

    ETA: @waterbaby318 Can you tell by your CM when you're ovulating? 
    I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

    Oh lord.  I'm so happy I never did this.  Talk about driving you crazy.  CD5 seems super early to get a LH surge, but I'd just keep testing and temping.  I'm "guessing" you won't get a temp increase this early.  I wish I had more advice.  UGH!

    I'm still getting the hang of CM and as far as feeling my cervix, it's difficult because it's tipped. I'm going to BD just in case and wait to see what happens for temps. I suppose it's possible that I may O around the 10th and this is just leading up to it?

    Just took a shower and checked CM. It is mostly clear and slippery but there is also a small amount of menses in there well.

    I've gotten a pos opk around cd5 before. I think it usually is left over from AF.  I think it makes sense to BD anyway, but just keep checking. I would bet LH goes back down and then back up in a few more days.

    Why are you using OPKs at CD5? If you are pretty regularly a 28 day girl then you really shouldn't start OPKs until CD9 or 10 (and maybe the chance for a false positive is why they say that).

    I had a weird cycle last month and wasn't exactly sure when I ovulated. I didn't start temping until too late. Anyhow I was feeling ovary pain and was feeling paranoid I'd miss it somI started testing early. I got another high reading today so who knows. Just waiting to see what my temps do.

    Just keep temping.  That will tell you more.  And HIO in the mean time :)

    Well I'm now convinced I had a bad batch of OPKs. Or they are mega sensitive. I wasn't getting crosshairs on FF so I just kept POAS and keep getting very strong positives where the test is WAY darker than control. Finally got a crosshair after entering my temp today and according to FF I o'd a few days ago.

    Anyhow he's to hoping this is the month.

    Looks good!  I get multiple days of +OPKs and mine is the digital only a smiley if it's time kind but mine probably a true long surge.  In my searches on FF I've seen other charts like that both pregnant and non pregnant  (yeah....chart stalkers anonymous here I come)  Good LUCK!

    Off Mirena Nov 2013, On Nuvaring end of Jan, Back off Sept 2014.  Never ending cycle starting end of Sept... 
    11/14 Provera failed... cycle continues 
    12/14 High FSH (57 "midcycle")  OBGYN had no clue... about anything 
    01/15 More lab results coming back from RE. U/S showed small (1")cyst on left ovary, thin lining, and couldn't locate right ovary so  possibly straight to DE and IVF 

    Occassionally mess with the chart below to see "what if" and learn (not to make it pretty but because FF stays drunk with me).
