I started chit chatting to my LO after the first u/s at 8weeks. Just a few words here and there. Usually with DH so that i didnt feel completely ridiculous. At about 15 weeks recently I started saying more and DH talks to my belly too.
When we went in for our 16 week ultrasound, the tech said baby could hear my H. The baby started moving around when he started talking! I didn't believe it until we were using the doppler at home and my H got close to my belly and started saying hiiiii baby and you could hear the movement on the doppler. I don't have a clue if it recognizes his voice, but it is definitely recognizing noises! Pretty cute. So I would say start talking, it isn't too early.
I talk to baby about my symptoms and cravings (e.g. "I ate that taco for you, Peanut. I hope you liked it.").
I'm coming up on 16 weeks, so DH and I are starting to talk about actually reading to my belly and such. I feel like it'll feel weird at first, and I have no idea if baby will be able to hear/process the sounds yet at all, but I figure it's good for baby anyway because it'll help us bond.
Does telling baby to cut the crap when I'm throwing up count?
My husband keeps giving the baby a stern, fatherly talking-to about taking it easy on me already. "You settle down in there, now." It's the cutest thing.
