WWO13D?

So DS got sick this weekend. Threw up twice but the second time was our fault. He ran a fever but has been fever free for over 24 hours now. He also slept in his own bed all night and has been acting fine for over 24 hours. Not fussy and seems completely normal.

My mom had him Sat when all this started so she has been very concerned. She thinks we need to take him to the dr but I don't think so. I keep putting it nicely that he is fine now and doubt the dr could tell us anything. She is so worried he will be sick for Christmas.

I need advice. Should I just chalk it up to a crazy 24 hour thing or should I really go get him checked? H even thinks he's fine. He was teething last week but was doing better by Friday. So WWO13D?

  • I don't think I would worry about it if he seems okay now. Do you have a nurse line you could call? I'm sure they'll tell you just to keep an eye on him but maybe it would put your mom's mind at ease of you could tell her you spoke to the pediatrician's office.

  • Not a doctor, but if fever free for 24 hours, no real point to take him to the doctor. They are going to listen to his lungs, check for ear infection, and then say "it sounds like he had a little virus that ran its course."

Usually if they had a fever and now don't, they are on the road to recovery. Also, the doctor probably won't give him medicine to ward off being sick for Christmas--it doesn't sound like something bacterial (because no prolonged fever). Our little guy got a 24 hour bug this weekend, and we just did lots of water/milk/snuggles/ibuprofen to sleep and waited for the fever to go away. Today, he is still calmer than usual--but I know he is on the mend because he woke up without a fever.
  • Sounds like a 24-hour thing to me.

  • @Lee81‌ I called the nurses line Sat night. Which was just a waste and I wanted to strangle her. But I did call and they gave me the usual advice of motrin/tylenol every 4 hours and clear liquids/pedialyte.

  • Glad to know I'm normal. This FTM stuff is hard!
  • All sorts of bugs are going around right now. He's fever free, acting fine, I don't see any need to go to the doctor. This time of year there is so much nastiness at the doctor, I'd rather keep them away if I can.
