Baby nurses better on one side?

Hi all! So I have a sleepy, semi-inefficient sucker over here who has a good latch but doesn't always empty the breast fully, even with compressions/ waking up techniques/etcetera. Also, I notice on the left side she chugs, but on the right she doesn't really work as hard or suck/swallow as much...kind if just late there and/or comfort sucks, even if it's the first side offered (I have mastitis on the right, though, so it could be due to the swelling over there making it hard for her to eat). My right nipple is also much flatter than my left, but we use a shield so this shouldn't be a problem... Thoughts? Anyone else's kiddo have a "favorite" side and if so, how do you get them to be more effective at the other? Thanks!

    Ds1 never ate from my left and was supplied with food from my right exclusively for 14 months. It was never an issue. Now ds2 prefers my left because the right had such a forceful let down
