Normal or No? FTM Here..

For the past 3 days, I've been getting really strong menstrual cramps, sometimes so bad I want to cry. I've also been getting a throbbing pain in my lowerback, and eextreme tightening in my upper abdomen. Every time I mention this to my doctor, he just blows it off like it's nothing, and it probably is nothing & Maybe I'm just worried beacause I'm a FTM. But everything I've read said these are signs of contractions & labor. Going back to the doctor on Tuesday to inform him that the pain is getting worse. Hopefully, he'll do a check and see What's going on. I'm 38w&4d right now, my daughter is due on New Year's day, but I've been miserable the past few days and am only getting worse. However, I did have a burst of energy today and got some things cleaned & switched around.

Re: Normal or No? FTM Here..

  • Sounds like normal Braxton Hicks to me. Maybe you'll get lucky and baby will be here sooner than expected. Good luck!!

  • Could be BHs, could be real contractions... it can happen....but if it were true labor they would be consistent, ongoing and you would be able to time them.  5 minutes between each start of contraction and about a minute long duration for each.... lasting for an hour... is when I was told to go into the hospital with my first.

  • Thank you!! :) Not too much longer to go!
  • It doesn't sound abnormal, you're full term. When they get stronger, longer and closer together or if your water breaks then you're in labor!

  • Like the PPs said, it sounds normal. If they get consistent or your water breaks, you're in labor. Until then, "enjoy" the end of your pregnancy! ;)
  • I've been getting that. Due just a day behind you (1/2). Unless they're timeable and lasting for more than an hour, it's not actual labor and there's nothing much to do. My midwives don't do cervical checks cause you can be dilated and not in labor for weeks. I wait them out and then continue about my day. Baby's going to come when he comes and I want to labor at home as long as possible anyway.
  • Thank you all so much! :)
  • It's normal. I have been doing the same thing this past week with BHs and all. Sadly LO is putting pressure on my tailbone so sitting is impossible lol. I would love to have some energy!
