Weight gain?

hi ladies,
First time mom here and I was wondering how much weight have you gained so far in your pregnancy? I'm 7 weeks and I've gained about 4 to 5 pounds out of no where. I wanted to see what you all are experiencing.

  • Thank you. I'm not looking for anyone to tell me pounds wise was just looking for advice. Sorry if I offended anyone by asking.

@SNDavis02 Personally I never weigh myself when I am pregnant.  Too much to worry about.  I get on the scale tell Debbie (my nurse) not to tell me and that's it... My weight has always been a mystery for me when I was pregnant with both of my children.  Ignorance is bliss sometimes and on this occasion that fits me just fine.. LOL

Try not to worry too much about it because it's inevitable.   :)  Congrats to you and your husband.

(Side note: with both of my pregnancies I had an over-abundance of amniotic fluid known as polyhydramnios and looked liked I was carrying twins (with both pregnancies). My OB said I was carrying around a gallon+ of fluid in my belly LOL so weighing myself would only bring undue stress.  We have enough of it when pregnant, why add on to it.  I'm sure my weight tipped the scale...but I was a happy mama.)

  • The week after I found out I was pregnant I weighed myself every day like I normally do, but my fluctuation was ridiculous. I mean, it varied from 5-10 lbs a day.

I had H take the scale to work and plan on telling the nurse I don't want to know how much I weigh.

Eh, not sure why weight gain is such a huge deal for some ladies. Someone at a healthy pre pregnancy weight is supposed to gain 25-35 lbs and less if you were heavier and more If you were under weight. Your doctor should be able To tell you a good healthy range for you. Don't compare yourself to other people because it truly is different for everyone. If you try and eat mostly healthy whole foods and stay active as much as you can.. Even just walking then you're on the right track. That being said I'm sick as a dog and definitely not eating my best at the moment so I stay active and hope the nausea subsides second tri. Think I've gained maybe 2 lbs? But also the bloat and water weight doesn't help that scale. I think it's good to be informed of your weight during pregnancy so you can try to stay on track.
  • I'm 10w & have gained 7 pounds . I've never had MS and have been pretty bad lately with my eating habits. Everyone's different . My doc told me I gained too much but I feel she is comparing to a majority rather then telling me what's best for me . I know I should defiantly cut back on some of the sweets !
  • Weight is highly variable in the first tri. According to my OB, some women can gain up to 10 pounds just from retaining fluids aka water weight.

Weight gain will most likely continue to fluctuate differently for all of us, week to week. I try to listen to my body and not worry about the number.
  • I don't feel that this is rude. My bmi when I got pregnant is 29. That's almost obese. I'm 5.2 and156 when I got pregnant. I had ten pounds to my ore pregnancy weight with daughter number one. I am down two pounds and I am trying hard not to gain. Not because I am obsessed with the weight I just remember how horrible I felt at the end of my other pregnancy. The carpel tunnel, the inability to walk around without being short of breath. I was miserable. It's important to me to watch how much I gain. I was 186 when I delivered my daughter. It was horrible. So according to the Doctor I should only gain 15-25 pounds.
