TTC After a Loss

Newbie Introduction

Hi everyone :)  I seem to be going about this backwards as I'm asking questions before really introducing myself so I'm going to rectify that right now!  I even managed to figure out this signature thing after well over a year of lurking around here.  I look forward to getting to know you ladies and here is a little bit about me.  This mentions our repeated miscarriage struggles so if this will bother people I would not continue reading past the next paragraph.

I'm 30, live in Southern Ontario and work as a clinical crisis counselor for suicidal and/or self-harming children and youth .  My hubbie is 35 and is a millwright apprentice.  We have been together for 13 years, got married in January 2013 and have a dog, two cats, and a ferret.  We are the opposite to one another in almost every way but that just seems to work for us.

I was on the pill for 15 years and stopped taking it in February 2013 to start TTC.  Got BFP in April 2013, early miscarriage in May 2013, but BFP again by the end of May 2013 with twins!  HBs seen at 6 weeks but miscarriage requiring a D&E in July 2013 at 8 weeks.  In this time we discovered I was having high grade cervical and glandular cell readings from my paps and biopsies had to be done.  OB started discussing potential hysterectomy procedures which obviously had us panicked at the time.  Biopsies came back negative and cell readings began to decrease from high to borderline to low.  Woohoo!

Third pregnancy was in January 2014 and also ended in an early m/c.  Started seeing a ND in addition to my MD and OB in order to assist with my irregular cycles and LPD.  Doctor suspected progesterone deficiency so my ND put me on Chaseberry to assist until BFP occurred at which point it would be discontinued and Prometirum prescribed by my OB.  OB has also had me on baby aspirin for the last year roughly after the 2nd mc although nothing has been checked into to see if clotting really is an issue.  BPF in August 2014 and Prometrium started at 5 DPO.  No spotting occurred (and did with the previous three) and we saw a HB again at 6 weeks.  MMC occurred end of September and another D&E required with misoprostol to start the process.  Genetic testing on the tissue removed during surgery all of which came back as having no immediately apparent genetic issues.

We have FINALLY been able to get a referral made for a RE which we are hoping to see sometime in January 2015 and recently completely lots of bloodwork and genetic screenings to help us see what exactly is going on.  Last pap was in November 2014 and came back negative for any concerning cells :)  OB said my cervix looked great and did not see anything that was concerning any longer.  No idea what happened there but eternally relieved things are ok right now.

So that's a small snapshot about us and our journey thus far.  I try to check in and be helpful when I can but due to our work schedules I am not always as consistent as I would like to be.  Look forward to getting to know you ladies and will happily read anything you want to share about yourselves or answer any questions you have about me :)

  • I'm so sorry for your losses. Thank you for sharing. I'll be looking forward to knowing how your RE appt turns out. Are you still actively TTC? GL!
A ferret sounds like such a fun pet to have! But I'm afraid my dogs would not play very nice :( how do you do it with the dog and cats? Have they adopted their ferret as family or does the ferret just stay in the cage all the time?

"Everybody here has got a story to tell. Everybody's been through their own hell. There's nothing too special about getting hurt, but getting over it that takes the work. Because one way or another, we all need each other. Nothing's going to turn out the way you thought it would. Friends and lovers, don't you duck and cover because everything comes out the way it should in the end." -Glen Phillips, "Duck and Cover"

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :D  Sorry it took me so long to respond, busy day yesterday!  And yes we are actively TTC at this point although hope to see the RE before that happens again.

@imnotfancy the ferret is a hilarious pet ;)  She's got quite the personality and actually gets along ok with the cats although they tend to try and avoid her as much as possible.  The dog is only a year old and seems to think the ferret is a bit of a moving chew toy.  The ferret can hold it's own though but they tend to try and play too roughly together.  So it's always supervised.  She does have a cage she sleeps in because she is also deaf so can't be left to wander because she will get up inside of the furniture and then pass out and not be able to hear us.  But she comes out when she's awake to run around and also has a playpen if I'm busy and can't supervise her with the other animals so she still gets exercise and has things to play with.

@agpjt413 @zapgurl44 @bluedaisy0627 @MrsRed09 I really do love my job :)  Some days are obviously very stressful and hard to deal with but because it is crisis work it is also always different with new faces and new people to help.  Seems strange thing for an introvert to enjoy come to think of it...but I do.

@Nikolie93 well....if you insist :P My animals are terribly photogenic if I do say so myself.  Helps that hubbie is also a photographer on the side.

Let me figure out how to attach them and I will :D  ETA:  OK I think I got it.
And thank you to everyone else who welcomed me, it's very much appreciated!

Rogue now and one as a puppy because who doesn't need puppy pics? :)
