Sunday Morning SPAMALOT

Spam? Let's hear it!

Tree is up finally & shocker! I got "Santa" gifts wrapped before Christmas Eve. Munchkins should be here tomorrow with the dresser (actually is the lingerie chest to DD bedroom set) for LO's clothes. Finally will be able to get them out of the living room :)

Re: Sunday Morning SPAMALOT

  • Today is a baking cookies day for us! I'll be going to my mom's house with my sister so that will be fun. My hips ache after yesterday's marathon dress shopping. Ladies I left my house at 7:45am and didn't get back until 6pm. It was ridiculous.
I do have a random and maybe stupid FTM question. I thought that your milk came in by the time you gave birth. Is is normal to have to wait for your milk to come in and supplement with formula until then or no? When does milk come in?

  • Its a winter wonderland at my house! Just a coating of snow, enough to make it really pretty.  I'll have take a picture of my house later.  Its painted barn red, so super pretty in the snow.

I'm not sure what plans are today.  Maybe just cleaning house a bit.  We have to figure out if we are going to get the floors done or not.  I'm still voting no, but DH actually won money(!) at the casino yesterday so he might overrule my cost objection with that.  Although I still want to use that money for a bigger car down payment, not floors...his "play" money though so more his choice then normal.

DD was born on a Thursday and my milk came in on Sunday afternoon. She still breastfed but we gave her formula a few times.
  • I was wondering if anyone was going to start this! I got up super early this morning. Now I'm having double kitty snuggle on the sofa and trying to convince both myself and the kitties to get up so I can go to the grocery store and to Marshall's to see if I can find some frames for DD's room.
  • @DBJackson25 colostrum comes in first and then a 2 - 4 days later the milk comes in. Colostrum is fine for the first few days until your milk comes in. Here's a small amount of info on it from the La Leche League https://www.lalecheleague.org/faq/colostrum.html

  • F TM but from my bfeeding class they told us your colostrum is ready now and will feed the baby for the first 2-3 days. She explained the more your body releases the milk the more it will make...crazy how our bodies work

I actually woke up at 3 thinking their was a baby in our living room that needed to get burped..crazy dreams are starting I guess!
  • I have to say I maynot be a "first time" mom anymore but with such a huge gap between kid 2 and kid 3 I have seriously felt like a FTM somedays. I've learned a lot of new things and have gotten reminded of a lot of things I have forgotten from all of you guys just by lurking on some posts. Love y'all!!
  • Both DH and the cat are snoring away.   Dh occasionally moves his legs, which bothers the cat and he makes these sad yowling noises.  I love weekend mornings!
  • I had a dream just last night that I had a c section at my 32 weeks appointment (which is coming up on christmas eve) and I had no milk or colostrum for the baby. I think I cried a little, cos my pillow is still wet.

DH's car battery died yesterday while we were out and about. Today's plan is to get his car sorted and chores. No fun, so I'm lingering in bed instead to delay the inevitable.

    32 weeks ticker change today!

  • We had Christmas with my brothers and their families last night. Of course it was crazy. Lots of alcohol and snarky comments. The drunker my SIL got the more she picked on me about every little thing. It was rather annoying. She is a huge exec at a Fortune 500 company and basically is an ass most of the time, especially when she is drinking. My brother wasn't much better. I know I'm being sensitive but I need some quiet time today. I'll be glad when everyone goes home today.

Sorry to be negative but I don't have the patience for this crap right now. Here's to a restful Sunday!
  • We're being naughty and skipping church this morning.  We both slept in and it was amazing!

  • Hope everyone is doing well! It's my husband's dad's christmas party today. Should be interesting. They are a loud odd group of people. We only see them on christmas. Hoping it'll be fun. This past week has been so busy for me that I forgot what a almost stay at home wife feels like. Miss having a day off! Oh an for the first time in my life I got a Charlie horse twice last night. Any good ways to relieve that?
  • I've been fighting another damn cold too. Not fun! We're going to try braving the giant line at Bass Pro today to let the kids see Santa. Other than that, my plan is to do a bunch of nothing today!
  • This is hubby's weekend to work, so it was supposed to be just me and DD at home for the weekend. Well, she decided that I'm not very fun anymore and called my grandmother to see if she could stay the weekend with them. It kinda hurt my feelings, but I really am not any fun for her anymore. I can't run and play outside, or comfortably get down in the floor to do whatever she decides is best. I try to do what I can, but she just gets frustrated. Oh well. She's having fun with them and I get to do last minute stocking stuffer shopping.
    Happy Sunday!

  • Good morning ladies :-)

We are making all our Christmas cookies, making sugar scrubs, grocery shopping for Christmas dinner, and wrapping presents.

My sister bought all the presents I told her I was getting my nephew, a book and video game, so now I have to figure out something else since she got his whole list too. Not a huge deal but he has everything and is hard to shop for! Do you think a gift card tree is inappropriate for a twelve year old?

  • Lazy Sunday here too.  I have to go to Target in a little while and will wrap presents during DS' nap, but that's about it.  Maybe sort through some of the baby clothes to figure out what I need to swap for bigger sizes (a few of my friends gave us clothes but they're almost all NB and 0-3, which I have quite a bit of already), but I'm not going to actually attempt swaps until after Christmas.

  • Heartburn/Acid Reflux can just cease to exist. I woke up choking early this morning, and my whole chest, throat and mouth were burning. It was so bad I ended uo puking and DH ran to the store in hous pjs for something to help cause we had nothing. It's never happenned before and it can sure never happen again.

  • I had a dream the other night where I had my baby but then they had to put her back in. I was trying to love on her on much as I could before they did that.

I'm super happy that's not the way things work.
  • @kartish - sorry to hear about your reflux. I've had really bad reflux since about age 20, so I'm an old pro with this. Try sleeping with your upper body a little elevated, that keeps the acid in your stomach better. Avoid caffeine, citrus, ginger, mint, spicy things, and tomatoes for a while- all of those promote acid reflux. My OB said that taking zantac (ranitidine) was safe and OK, so I've been taking 150 mg twice a day since early in 2nd tri. I still have a really sore throat from the acid, but it's manageable. Good luck!

Speaking of colostrum, I now know personally what this looks like. I feel like I'm a newly minted woman. If only I had read spam earlier today, I would have spent less time angsting over the boob pain and fluid.

Question: am I the only lady out there that watches the cross-fit world championship stricktly for the glistening six packs??

My hubby is at the gym (ironic) and I got to turn off 'Red Zone' for once on a Sunday....and my fingers just stopped when I got to ESPN and saw the rediculous man-bodies. Must be my hormones, I'm never like this--I swear! :-O

DH went to the Cowboys game with his little sister.  She won tickets at her work and wanted to take him instead of the bf.  :)  Her parents (same dad) now live in Turkey so we're her close family.

I broke down.  I'm wearing DH's sweat pants & thin, red fleece pullover.  It's ridiculously comfortable though I feel frumpish.

  • I never post in the spam thread but I just wanna say..... I miss the US! Holy crap I'm homesick.... 2 months down only 34 to go. My hubby and I are over here in Germany with the army. Thanks for letting me get that out. I needed to post somewhere how homesick I am. Lol
  • The nursery is finally painted!!!! It looks pretty good and I'm extremely proud of my amateur painting skills. I also put the crib up. We still need a mattress, and I'm waiting on the rocking chair and dresser to arrive. :)

  • Well... 1/2 the house is clean. Tomorrow will be the den, office and dining room. DH is in charge of mopping. I just can't. Happy to sleep in and for the day off.

If you haven't already, look up Culture shock...ways to deal, symptoms, timelines, ect.  Its pretty standard and most people go through a fairly predictable set of phases, so knowing what to expect might help you.

You'll make it. I've got 12 months to go before we move back to the US and while it's hard sometimes, it's been a good experience overall. Definitely take the opportunity to travel all over Europe while it's close and flights are relatively cheap.

Use skyscanner to find cheap flights by date (put in dates and sort places by price) or place (find cheap dates to fly). Garmin's nuvi series is relatively inexpensive for GPS with full Europe maps for driving. Our Nuvi 2595 has been the best investment for driving around Europe and being able to find things like gas stations or restaurants off the highway or main road.

Thanks so much for the encouragement and suggestions. Anything that'll help pass the time!! I am excited to travel. And I think I will feel more at ease once baby boy gets here.

Thanks! That's a great idea. Right now I feel so out of sorts with no explanation.
