Nursing moms!

I have a question or two. Just one now but might be more

@bunnyfungo‌ for sure maybe can answer.
When your dd started nursing less and eating more solids did you notice your supply go down?
I haven't changed anything in my routine but j have noticed that when she nurses for naps and stuff sometimes my supply seems lower and it actually hurts.

I planned to let her self wean, is it going to hurt every time she is nursing since I won't have a bunch of milk or idk how it works.

Idk how any of it works lol, I had a goal of giving it s try and then a goal of 3 weeks now it's been 9 months!

Please when you have time explain how this works(anyone who has self weaned a tiny tot)

Tia!

Re: Nursing moms!

  • Have you started your cycle yet?  It gets painful for me around ovulation.

  • I'm on baby 3.

DD self weaned just under a year - my plan was a year, so that was fine. I hadn't noticed any pain, my milk production reduced (which is to be expected if LO isn't eating as much since it's a supply and demand system), but I still had adequate supply to feed her.
I became enforced for a couple days after she finally stopped nursing.

DS1 weaned just under a year as well. I suspect my milk production dropped significantly due to being almost 5-6 months pregnant and my return to work. Still no pain.

LO is still going strong. He nurses 5-6 times in 24 hours usually (down from 10 times).

Is the pain in your nipple, whole breast, specific part of breast?
I've had occasional nipple pain, but I blame that on having a wet nursing pad 95% of the time when it happens. I air dry and get a fresh nursing pad. Breast pain could be a small clogged duct (I get clogs after excessive pressure - if I wear underwire bra, I get a clogged duct where the wire rubbed/poked).

    Good luck.
  • Could it be teeth?? I'm dealing with that right now!!! She got her upper teeth and I can feel it!
  • I'm finding now that LO has more teeth her latch has changed and when she's lazy/teeth hurt she doesn't latch correctly. So I just remove her and relatch and it helps.
  • I feel like decreased because they are squishy and don't feel firm as often as they used to.
They do still get firm but not much, they are acting the way they did when I had started working out-but only thing is im not currently doing any special work outs

Just the whole breast, maybe clogged or something and it's not a big deal :-S I don't think I've had that yet.... So could be that.

No period yet *knocks on all the wood**

    It hasn't hurt today.
  • Mine hurt and I NEVER felt full. My child started nursing around the clock at night and every nursing session my nips would just feel so so terrible.

Turns out I was knocked up and my supply tanked.

    Ps I was nana. :kissing_heart:

I prefer "tbfkanc" much easier to remember ;)

Why don't I know what this means?

So did you ever get your period? Sorry if that is being too nosy! AF still hasn't returned but I want it to so we can ttc early spring.
  • @fish8412‌ oh yeah! I got it about 9 weeks postpartum, because apparently nursing every 2 hours isn't often enough for my body to remember that I have an infant, I don't "need" a period.

In all seriousness I did get my period back at 9 weeks, but it was never what it used to be. Instead of a 4 week cycle i got used to 6 week cycles. No rhyme or reason that I could see besides just different genetics playing in. (To why it came back when it did)
Ie—my SIL had her baby end of October 13, only nursed exclusively for 3 months, stopped altogether by 6 months, and she and I got our PP periods around the same time.

  • Well I'm about 98% sure I'm not ku.... Lol. Or however much protection it says on a condom box.
  • Also it would be shocking because even at 4 weeks I was already feeling sick!!! So that would be even more amazingn that I'm ku and not sick. I feel a tiny bit paranoid about it now but you have to have sex to get ku too and doesn't happen here B-)
  • I haven't had a period in 34 months. Lol.

Longest before that was 30.5 months. (After DD was born I was on Depo Provera until I had surgery when she was a little over 18 months, then I got my period back)

This time I went from having DS1 to pregnant again quickly.
I'm kinda hoping it shows up soon, but also enjoying that it hasn't come back yet. Lol.

I hate talking about it because I'm afraid I'll jinx myself lol
