We haven't had this in a few weeks, so I'm hoping @Meghan14 doesn't mind that I'm starting it up. I'm hoping she'll pop in, and I'll gladly hand the reigns over to her!!
I'm mobile, so I don't have her list of questions. Let's just freestyle this week and see what happens. Please tell us about your challenges and your triumphs and how things are going in general!
I hope you guys don't mind if I join in. I'm struggling a lot right now because I feel like I need to do everything, and yet nothing is getting done. Neither of these is really true...my H is a huge help, and I'm actually making a lot of headway on cleaning and Christmas stuff, but I'm kind of in a rut.
On the plus side, I'm having some success with both sleep training Logan and potty training Scarlett, so there's that.
@sjelwood Musician to musician? Yes yes yes yes! I feel so much better after I've done something musical -- even if the practice process overwhelms or stresses me (I'm looking at you last week!). Good for you, mama!
Some sleep issues here too. Not teething, just....who knows what. Today morning nap was boycotted. And now this is 2 days in a row he wakes up halfway through his nap and I have to rock him (we were so hard core with CIO, then I caved a bit). He used to be a great night sleeper and a decent napper. This long term sleep regression is the pits!
Also going to be volunteering at the local hospital in the gift shop in January. Just 2 Saturdays a month for 4 hours. That's what I did before LO was born and I loved interacting with people, nurses, doctors. I went back in last week and they were thrilled to possibly get me back.
I've also been secretly thinking about applying for a competitive internship once LO is 1 year old. My chances are slim to none in getting in but I am just an internship and exam away from being able to be a Child Life Specialist. I feel like getting the certification would make feel like I used my college degree a little more. Love being a SAHM but I don't know if I want to do it full time forever. Problem is LO would have to be in daycare full time for a semester/year, and I've been begging DH for a dog- not a good idea to do both, so we'll see.
@ armfruit I hear you on the semester being over! DH finished last night, and is done with school until January. He's also taking a lot of time off over the next 2 weeks...January is going to be hard to readjust!
@sjelwood musician here (trumpet) and I miss playing so much! Don't know if I'll ever get the chance to really play again.

I feel like I've been going in circles... not actually getting anywhere. My house is a mess, but when I try to pick up, I realize the majority of the mess is stuff that I need to take to my mom's on Sunday for Christmas. I have no where else to put it but the guest room. You can't even see the guest bed anymore. It's stressing me out, but there's literally nothing I can do with the stuff. I'm actually considering putting it in H's trunk just so I feel like I've been successful.
@Magentawarped Child Life Specialist is a mix between a play therapist and social worker. They work in hospitals and help explain to kids what exactly is going to happen from mild procedure to cancer treatment. Using real medical equipment, they can help show the child what is going to happen when they're asleep, or have them give the doll a shot, or just be there to work with kids who are going through tough stuff. They are there to really focus on the kids and help them understand what's going on with them or with their parents.
I learned about this years ago and it's come and gone in working towards it. I just finally decided that with certification changing in a few years, it was now tacked on my list of things to accomplish before baby #2....and that list keeps growing longer.
@armfruit Huge hugs! I have those days too! I hope watching extra kids goes okay for you and you're able to get everything done in time for family to come!
Is anyone in touch with @meghan14 ? Hope all is well, and she's just busy!
@Bookshelves I've seen her on Facebook, so I know at least she hasn't dropped off the face of the earth. R is walking, plus holidays, so my guess is busy. Hoping she's back with us soon though!
I just talked to @Meghan14, and her computer died, she's not allowed to use her husband's for security reasons, and she's crazy busy with holidays and family. But -- she's well and misses us (I mean, of course!). Hopefully Santa is bringing her a new laptop so she can join in the fun again!
