nose picking?

Anyone successfully beat it? DS1 picks a lot. I started by just ignoring it…but it seems that that caused it to become an unconscious habit so…..I've tried offering him a tissue or telling him to go in the bathroom to do it. No change. My mom keeps telling me to put hot sauce on his finger but no way would I ever do that to him.

    i always ask if he needs a tissue if i see him doing it and he stops.

    Of all the silly places to learn this trick - it was when I was a ski instructor years ago... The clinician was telling the story of how it took a ski instructor to do what the Mom was at her wits end trying to extinguish...  The ski instructor took a different approach - they told the kid "You have my full permission to pick your nose as much as you need to, as long as you don't do it in front of other people!"..  Kid started doing it in the privacy of the bathroom/closed rooms/etc. from that point onward...
