UPDATE IN COMMENTS: i really shouldn't but I'm worried.

Ladies, I need some advice, I know I shouldn't post a thread and I feel silly doing so but I think this is too extreme for daily symtoms. (I don't want to come across as I'm more important than everyone else, read my post!, I'm simply worried). Walking around town for Xmas shopping today. First off I was hit with awful nausea that resulted in me sweating - when it's freezing out, unable to breathe, feeling dizzy and having tingling sensations in my hands. I finally managed to calm myself down. Then after walking to some other shops I started to feel pain in my lower back at the right side which then spread around to the right side of my tummy and stayed there for about an hour and a half. The pain was so bad that I couldn't walk I had to sit down whilst my partner went and done some shopping. I was crying with the pain and went I did stand up to walk again I had to keep bending over to get some ease. One woman even asked if I was okay. I can't imagine how labour will be if I was in this much pain today. I'm at home now and the pain has dulled but it is still there, I have a 9 hour shift tomorrow where I will be on my feet for the whole shift. It was sickness last week that I was off for I also missed my weekly college classes due to being sick. I'm now in so much pain that I don't think I could handle it. I know I won't be able to eat early in the morning as I'll feel like I'm going to throw up, i always do at early morning. I have the doctor on Monday to see if they can give me a slip signing me off of work for the festive period as I'm struggling with sickness and pain. I have a feeling my work won't understand and fire me. My head is telling me to rest. I just want to rest up until after Christmas or until I start to feel better. The discomfort and trying to work through the sickness is depressing me, I feel like in constantly fighting it to please others. I'm worried this pain could be something serious or if it's just a bad case of RLP. Should I call a doctor? And should I call work tomorrow and tell them I need to rest up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I promise love-its. I also welcome gifs, I could do with a party to take my mind off of this - alcohol free of course ;).

I apologise for the long dear diary post

  • I think if you are that worried, you should definitely call a doctor. It sounds like your mind will not be at ease unless you do. All the best!

  • This sounds like a lot more than RLP. I would definitely call the doctor. Worst case, they tell you that it is RLP and you don't need to worry. If it's something more though, you'll want to go in ASAP.

Good luck and keep us posted!

  • I would definitely call the doctor if I was in that much pain for 1.5 hours. I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Hopefully a quick chat with the doctor will give you some insight. Feel better!

  • Crying with pain seems pretty extreme, I think you should call your doctor. As awheeler4311 said maybe a couple of days rest will help you get back on your feet.
  • I would call the doctor. Are you maybe dehydrated? You could try taking a unisom sleep tab (or a half) at night, that helps with my morning nausea.

  • Thanks everyone for your advice. The plain has dulled, I'm thinking I was maybe on my feet too much? Partner says I'm maybe worrying too much, but I don't know.. It is after hours as it's 9PM here. I wouldn't say until after Christmas just until I feel better. I have a doppler at home so I can check the heartbeat once I'm at home (I'm in partners family's house at the moment) I know health professionals can tell me a lot more than a doppler. I'm thinking the pain was so bad because I was on my feet and didn't have anywhere to rest, now I'm seated it has faded and it's almost gone, could this mean something is still wrong. it has eased more since posting this. I have no bleeding or anything. I'm still unsure, should I just call someone? I don't have an official doctor or assigned midwife yet.. What should I do about my long shift tomorrow. I'm a weekend worker and have college during the weeks but it's been so bad recently, I don't think I can do it.. Between sickness and now this.

  • Yes, CALL THE DOCTOR. Call the after hours line, get some answers. They'll let you know what they think.

Hang in there and keep us posted.

  • I called the 24hr line ladies, they can't get a nurse to speak to me (busy I guess) so they are going to call me back within the next 2 hours. One thing they did ask was ''has baby stopped moving'' to which I replied ''well I dont think I've even felt it move yet'' ... I'm only 16 weeks, surely I wouldn't feel anything yet? when they said that it worried me. So it's just a case of waiting to see what they say to me.

  • The dizziness/tingling thing does sound like a panic attack (and if you've never had one, a panic attack can cause EVEN MORE panic, and it's a really bad time.) Although sometimes when I get nauseas, I also get sweaty and dizzy.

I think it's entirely possible that it's nothing serious, and you should try to relax until you find out otherwise. But if you're worried, always call your doctor. They're used to it. I've apologized to mine for being a paranoid FTM, and they said "oh, you haven't even called that much." I know some ladies here have had some seriously extreme RLP pain, so it could be that (and that usually does improve some with rest). Mine's generally worse when I'm on my feet a lot.

When I went in with spotting, they did write me a work excuse for a few days so I could rest, but I have an office job so I went in anyway. I don't know what kind of work you do, but they may be able to give you an excuse for modifications (like sitting on a stool at the register if you work retail, or more frequent breaks maybe?) If it's a large enough company, and it's something that's going to be an ongoing problem, you can also apply for FMLA, which sort of allows for you to miss work without getting fired over it (you'd have to have the doctor fill out the form for that).

I think it's normal that you haven't felt anything movement wise, I didn't feel anything till 20 weeks as a FTM. Agree with PP about symptoms mirroring panic attack, and I have no experience with RLP but hope you get answers soon. Rest sounds like what you need. I can't image being pregnant with the schedule I had of classes and working during college, that can be overwhelming. I hope you get a break.

Hi, I used to suffer from them everyday. Was on meds at one point. I probably panicked because I felt nauseous and didn't realise. I have been on my feet a lot lately. I work in retail but on the shop floor, so I'm always standing, bending and walking. I have the doctors on Monday which doesn't cover tomorrow's shift, I think I'm going to phone them tomorrow morning and explain that I'm in too much pain and worried about my little ones welfare but I am going to doctors on Monday, as i stated above I called the emergency line ^^. It depends on what they say I suppose how tomorrow turns out.

  • Hope you get to talk to a doctor soon.
I wouldn't worry about feeling the baby yet, I'm a STM and 15w2d and have had nothing to make me think baby and I don't expect to for a couple to few weeks yet. I didn't with DS until 21 weeks.
  • Have you been drinking water? I get very dizzy and achy if I don't drink a ridiculous amount of water. The pain is worrisome though and I agree with everyone else - see a doctor asap. Good luck
  • I'm off to the hospital ladies, any thoughts would be appreciated, I'm scared.

  • Sorry you didn't get very many answers - try to relax (I know... SO hard to do!), drink lots of water, eat a decent dinner if you can stomach it, and get a solid night's sleep. If you feel ok in the morning, go to work and try to take little breaks as much as you can - keep a water bottle and some snacks with you. If you feel unsure, then just stay home and rest. Hopefully your work will understand. Keep us updated on how you're doing!

  • Hi ladies, I'm on bed rest. I have the doctors on Monday to get a sick note for work. I've had little twinges of pain but nothing like yesterday. SO has his xmas night out tonight tho which is making me sad knowing I'm going to be in the house all alone, I think he is just going to the dinner part of it and not going out to the clubs, which is sweet of him I guess. I told him to go but he's insisting that he doesn't want too. Going to be a lonely couple of hours until he returns.. I have to think of my dinner plans and what I'm going to have. I always get worried when he goes out, in case he sees something better.. I know that's just me being silly but it's a horrible feeling, I'm just down in the dumps because I know I'll be on my lonesome.

My dear, dear @C6091, I think I understand where you're coming from based on other posts from you that I've seen. I relate to you, having also dealt with anxiety as well as depression and insecurities. DH is very committed to me, won't even look at other women, and I have no founded worries about him straying, but I still worry about it from time to time. I agree with PP though, it sounds like he is eager to be with you. Try to relax. I'm glad you don't have to go to work with what you've been going through lately. Distractions can be very helpful! I recommend the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, I could not put it down. Excellent distraction I should think. Or if reading is too much right now, I really love 30 Rock if you haven't watched it, great TV show.

  • Have you been drinking enough water? I had the same thing happen to me. My doctor said it can be normal in pregnancy especially in this weather. We don't realize we are getting hot and that's your bodies way of telling you. She said after being outside, all bundled up and you get inside. Take off a layer or two. Our bodies are very very sensitive right now and can overheat quickly which will cause sweating, nausia and that omg i'm going to pass out feeling. If you are cramping like that you could be dehydrated in a combo with all the stress you have been under. Maybe try drinking ice cold water while laying on your left side for a bit? Glad you called the advice line!!!

This ^^ it's exactly how I feel. I think it's going from cold to hot then hot to cold again, before pregnancy we wouldn't notice the shift, but like you said our bodies are super sensitive, I can't handle it. I feel like I'm going to pass out! Thank you for your lovely advice ! (:. I will make sure to carry a bottle of water with me everywhere, as my lips have been drying out A LOT! Which makes me think - dehydrated. I've been indulging in my cravings for fizzy things recently - ooops, I'm weak.. Now I'm going to stick to water.
