Babies on the Brain

Not entirely sure what to do...

So I have had nothing but spotting and sexual issues (too dry and it killing my sex drive) on the birth control, so the BF and I decided it was okay for me to stop taking it. When we decided, I was at the inactive sugar pills and I dont take the sugar pills since I'm diabetic.
However.... After I stopped taking the active pills I stopped having spotting. Its been 5 days since I stopped the active pills and no spotting at all.
My question is, do I need to wait until I have an actual period before I start temping?

  • I mean, I realize this wasn't the question, but if you are not ready to TTC and are having issues with dryness, why not try lube?

  • We already do use lube but having to use a butt load of lube because I don't even get lubricated at all when I'm aroused makes things feel awkward. On top of that, we have to constantly increase the amount of lube being used or I get vaginal tears.

That sounds like a medical concern I'd bring up with a doctor.
  • I already have brought it up to my OBGYN. He said that we needed to use lubricants because what I make isn't enough. Part of it can be because I'm diabetic but its never been an issue for me in the past.

That doesn't seem like enough of an answer from a doctor if you're having to use a "butt load of lube" as you put it.  Part of it could be diabetes related, but what about hormones?  Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but don't some women experience dryness when they're going through menopause?  I'm not suggesting you're dealing with menopause, but could be something going on with hormones.  If I was having that much difficulty/pain/not enjoying sex because I couldn't get wet, I'd be trying to find an answer beyond "use some lube."

  • I never did well on the pill either. Are you using a different form of birth control now or are you relying on charting to avoid pregnancy? I used a diaphragm between my pregnancies and I really liked it.

Right now we don't really have much time to see each other since my schedule is super crazy working overnights, then evenings and other places than I normally work (I'm a travel nurse). I never even thought of a diaphragm... I shall have to look into it!

  • Its not diabetes related because my OBGYN did extra testing to ensure my hormone levels are kosher and even an ultrasound since I have a history of uterine fibroids and PCOS. I only have dryness while on birth control. When I'm not on birth control I have my normal amount of lubricant. I need to use lube because my bf is well endowed and my lady parts are small even though I have had a kiddo. Its just how my anatomy is. I don't have pain or difficulty really, I'm just bleeding afterwards if we don't use enough lube.
