Red irritation in neck rolls

Anyone else's LO have really red irritated areas in the neck rolls? My poor DD has this red shiny skin- it looks really irritated. The neck rolls also seem to collect a lot of debris and dead skin which is hard to clean with a washcloth and soapy water. Even after a long bath, I still see tons of gunk and redness when I inspect the neck.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to treat this? I'm nervous to put Aquaphor on it because I think the rash is caused by the area already always bring moist. Thanks in advance!

Maybe try diaper rash cream? My DD had red irritation behind her ears and applying Desitin seemed to do the trick. It was gone within 2 days.

To keep it dry you can blow dry it with cool air after baths.

It is hard to clean the neck rolls. My DD always gets formula in them when she feeds. I would just try to inspect and clean it as often as possible, like after every feed. 'Cause if milk/dirt/etc. gets trapped in them too long it can cause a really funky smell and yeast.

I asked my pedi about this and he suggested petroleum jelly or diaper cream. A friend just recommended a product by mustela- physiobebe and claims it works wonders. It's expensive, FYI. The cheaper options have worked just fine on my dd.

Our pedi prescribed me a cream for the yeast. She said its for spit up getting down in there and it can cause yeast to form and irritate the skin. It was $5 with our insurance. It was so red a raw! It's also important to keep it dry.

Lotramin foot creme! My second DD had such a chubby little neck and a habit of spitting up when I was unprepared. I would find myself cleaning her neck 5-10 times a day. Her folds were very deep which made it hard to tell if you were really getting it clean in there. I tried regular diaper creme but she ended up getting an infection from the moisture. I switched to lotramin and it cleared right up. You can also use lotramin on diaper rashes. It works great on yeast rashes.

ds#2 had this for a looooong time. We actually had a nick name for him because of this "situation". He ended up needed anti-fungal treatment for it because it did turn into a fungus rather than just a rash.

We used Tommee Tippee (Spelling?) bibs that are made with a padded ring around the neck to help with milk rash because my son would slop while he was eating and get formula (or spitup) in the folds of his neck. It got smelly like cheese! We started making sure to clean it in the bath (hard to do, but let baby's head fall back farther than you'd like to) and be sure to dry it really well. Also we carefully put some baby powder in there at night to help keep it dry and the rash has gone away.

I usually put cornstarch or baby powder under the neck when it starts to get moist in there, whether it be from drool, sweat, whatever. I sprinkle it onto my fingers away from her face and then gently rub it under the neck. It just needs to be dry at some point!

We also put baby powder to neck and armpits so the redness passes within the day or two. My pedi also recommended to put a little baby oil on a pad and do all rolls over after bathing (only if skin is ok and without rash), so the rash wouldn't start..

I clean it as best as I can, then I put coconut oil on it. Has almost completely cleared it up, and it doesn't smell like cheese anymore

plus it's all natural unlike a lot of these other products

I was scared stupid once I was cleaning beneath her neck and the cloth looked bloody afterward. After googling it of course and reading to out diaper cream on it I put Bodreauxs Butt Paste on it and it was healed up the next day.

If check with your DR first but it could also be heat rash or prickly heat. My little one has just started to recover from a really bad case of heat rash/prickly heat.

I didn't put anything on it. We washed her in tepid/Luke warm water to ease it and made sure that she wasn't overdressed.
