Trying to Get Pregnant

How do you plan to tell your significant other??

How do you (or did you) plan to tell your significant other when you first find out you are pregnant?  I imagine the moment itself is exciting enough and a creative way is not necessary, but since I am not pregnant yet, I thought it might be fun to think of a fun way to tell him once I am.  What are your ideas?

It really depends on the situation. Knowing myself, I'll be too excited to put something together lol

  • DH and I have been together for 10 years this year.  I made a video collage of all our memories over the last 10 years set to some of our favorite songs.  I am holding out on finalizing the file because I really want to put the Pee Stick and "And then there were four" at the end of it and then play it for him.

When I got my BFP with our son, I kinda freaked out because it was a surprise.  I ran out to meet DH at his truck when he got home from work and literally threw a bag with a onesie in it at him and yelled I'M PREGNANT!  not so special...I'd like to do something better this go round.

  • I had a CP in October and I did the whole sister shirt for my DD and baked a fucking cake. I'm just going to tell him straight up because I don't want to be disappointed again. It was the worst. I didn't even want to eat my cake :(

The video sounds really cute... The pee stick may not be necessary though. Lol just IMHO.
  • The first time, I called him from my work at his work. The second time, I walked out of the bathroom and told him it was positive. The third time, same as second except he analyzed the stick. If/when it happens this time, I'm sure he'll want to analyze the stick again. He'll be right next to me staring it down to watch it change.

  • I'm sorry @GypsySoul1112‌ I had a similar experience. Since DH works offshore, chances are pretty good that he won't be home when I test. First chance he calls/Skypes I'll just tell him straight up. That's our agreement (I asked him if he wanted to find out over the phone or in person, he explicitly told me not to wait).
Thanks @dani_brewer. I'm sorry for your experience also. It was such a let down. Definitely not something I want either of us to go through again. I think it will be much better just laying it out there and hoping for the best!

  • Maybe a big sister shirt. It's gotta be better than my reveal when I got my BFP with DD - "well, here we go again". So romantic but loss takes the fun out of it.

  • I've thought about trying to find a Brave's onsie and folding it up in DH's dresser and video tapping him opening up the drawer in the morning to find the onsie surprise. He would be suspicious though of me video tapping him so I'm not sure yet.

  • My husband was out of town when I POAS the first time. It was father's day weekend so when he got home I gave him a father's day card. He connected the dots after that.

This time I'll probably just flat out tell him. You get nothing fancy sir ;)

  • If he is in town I will probably scream after the test which is what I did with DS.  If he is out of town for work I may go run out and buy a cute onsie and text him a picture and call right after.  If it was a work day and I didn't have time to run to the store I would just call and tell him.
  • I bought DH a onesie that says "Daddy's Racing Buddy" he's really big in to cars so that will be the perfect thing for him. Of course I'm not being literal and won't let my H take my child racing, but my H will love that. Don't know how I'm actually going to give it to him yet, though.

  • I had to wait a few years to be cleared by my doctors to be able to TTC so I think I'm going to be so happy to get the positive that I'm probably going to just blurt out the news to him.
  • I looked on pinterest.. found a million and one things. But I feel like when I do find out, I will sob like an idiot, and I don't want to have that experience by myself.. We don't get a big reveal, other then the two little lines, or plus sign. I think it's fun to just experience the "OMG WE ARE PREGNANT" emotions at the same time and together. Especially since we have been stressed about getting pregnant the last few months anyways.

Plus I'm awful at hiding things lol!
  • I don't know yet. I would love to get a GT or Braves onesie or nuk or something and give to him. I am awful at surprises though, so unless I had the onesie in the bathroom with me when I POAS, I'll be yelling at the top of my lungs and ruin any surprise anyway.

  • I bought 2 beautiful onesies a couple years ago. We had an 'accident' and I convinced myself I was preggled and went shopping at Baby Gap. But I decided that's what I'll give him to tell him. I'm more excited about telling our parents TBH. DH is going to get anxious before happy, whereas they'll scream their faces off. I've given this a lot of thought, obviously.

MW and I make sure we are together when testing.  She is very involved and excited about this process, so I wouldn't want to take that away by testing without her.

  • I am a dork and just bought a Big Brother shirt for DS at Target.com because it was only $4.  I figure then I would have it and can tell DH whether he is in or out of town and I can tell Grandparents that way.  I hope it isn't bad luck that I bought it before getting pregnant though.

  • At first I thought it would be nice to tell him in a fun and cute way, but now I know I'll just show him the pee stick and say I'm pregnant.  I'm terrible at keeping surprises anyway.

  • I will just tell him. With A the line was incredibly faint and he wouldn't believe me that it still counted so I took another after work that said clearly Pregnant. He believed that. Next time I will just tell him right away again. If he isn't there I will probably text him or call him. (depends on where he is working, can't always get calls) I
  • After the CP, I plan to wait until I turn a digital, then I might put it in an envelope in the mailbox or something. We shall see.

Well I told my H by buying my 2 year old a shirt that read I'm a big sister...came home from work and changed her into the shirt and let her walk around the house and watched his face once he finaly read her shirt..it was cute but, turns out it was a false positive!! Thats what I get for testing so early! I have no clue what I will do next time I am actually pregnant. It was really cute though.
