I love picking out gifts for people, and love to hear what creative ideas other people have!
So... what's the best gift you've ever given someone?

When we were little, my sister LOOOVED New Kids on the Block. She so desperately wanted to go to their concert (MA ladies: At the Centrum in Worcester), but my parents said no, she was too young. I'm not sure she ever got over it. ;-) And we were both pro-BSB in HS.
When they announced their tour, we HAD to go. MH and stalked the sales to get great seats. When she opened the tickets on Christmas, she literally screamed like a love struck teeny bopper. It was AMAZING.

Honestly, I think the thing that someone has enjoyed the most was the golfer that I cross stitched for my dad. He had it framed really nicely and it's hanging in his office.
My H also loves the pictures I took of the kids wearing camo (he's military) for Father's Day.
About 8 years ago, I borrowed a DVD recorder from my SIL. I took all of the VHS home videos my dad had taken from the time we were babies and copied them onto DVDs. That one brought a tear to his eye, and I remember being so excited to give it to him. He's really sentimental like me, so he loved it. He watched home videos the rest of the night
I am pretty excited about the gift for my brother this year-my sister and I got him a go phone. He is 16, and my parents refuse to get him a phone, so we thought this would be a good compromise. He will pay to keep minutes, and nobody will get stuck with an extra phone on their cell plan. (My sister currently has our other sister on her plan, but she is just more responsible than my brother). Next year, all 5 of us kids plan to split the cost of a gun safe for my dad. He rarely gets good gifts (usually shirts, soda, and licorice), so I am really looking forward to that!

This wasn't for Christmas I surprised DH at our wedding. He is in the military and really into protocol, history and tradition. One day in passing he mentioned a piece of symbolic military kit he had always wanted.
It took months of coordinating, help from a couple of his old military friends I barely knew and my dad driving two hours each way to get it.
He was so surprised I even remembered him mentioning it never mind getting it he couldn't believe it. It even made its way into some of our wedding pictures.
This is so great! I love being able to surprise someone with something they mentioned in passing that they really would love.
