Fidgety Eater

Hey mammas - have any of you noticed LO getting more distracted during eating sessions lately? I'm bfing, and lately DS has been pushing away with his arms, moving his head all over (w/o unlatching...ouch!), arching his back...almost as if trying to watch what's going on around him. I'm just not sure if it's a developmental thing, or if he's frustrated/full/hungry/something else. He's often smiling when he does this, too, but not always. When I stop the feeding session, he's often still wiggly or fussy. Anyone else have experiences like this? TIA!!

    My LO isn't BF anymore, but having the same problem when eating from a bottle. I'm guessing he just doesn't want to miss out on anything around him.....or he's just enjoying being difficult! ;)

    Same thing here with FF baby. She's not smiling while doing it, though. I think she just enjoys making it a little bit more difficult.

    Especially good to hear this from formula feeders - I was afraid I was running low and he was getting frustrated/hungry. Thanks! This is reassuring. :)

    It's developmental. They get more aware and become distracted eaters.

    Yep. My EFF baby is a pain to feed lately too.  She usually eats really well for the first few minutes when she get the bottle. Then she gets distracted. Most of the time I'll give her a break when she stops eating too much and hold her up to look around for a few minutes before I give her the bottle back.
