  • I don't understand why there is a MOTN thread every night. Why not do 1 per week and keep it open like a random thread?

I agree with this and I've participated in those threads. I was excited about it at first because I kept checking the boards in the middle of the night to see if anything of interest was going on to keep me from falling sleep. But with a new thread every night, you just have to say the same thing every time. "My baby is a day older than yesterday, I've been up X times and I feel the same way about this feeding pattern as I did yesterday. Going back to sleep now bye."
  • I realize that I'm very fortunate to be pregnant.  I realize that I'm very lucky to be in the position I'm in ... but I'm getting really effing sick of people sending me messages and calling to check and see how I am.  I'm still pregnant.  No, I'm not forcing induction.  Yes I'm getting uncomfortable. Please, stop asking me the same questions over and over again.  When I have this baby, we will let people know.

I feel like a UO would be the opposite of this.
  • Well I thought this one was an urban legend until I saw it pop up in my newsfeed recently. My UO is that your whole FB feed doesn't need to know the state of your cervix during labor.

(This was actually the husband posting about the wife. I would kill my H.)

  • Matching socks. Sorry, I just don't care if my 5 year old's socks don't match so long as she's dressed.

OMG yes!  I had a FB friend who posted mulitple updates like:

    "1 cm!"
    "Yay, 3 cm!"
    "5 cm"
    "Almost there, 8 cm!"
"10 cm, getting ready to push!"

wtf?  No one wants to know that.  Delete.

I've got one better for you. My boyfriends ex (her and I do get along but thats besides the point) posted on her FB yesterday (him nor I have one) that I was 3cm dilated and hopefully having my daughter soon. He started getting all sorts of phone calls from friends/family about it. FYI I'm still at home not pushing out a baby yet.....

    1.  Why does she know about your dilation?
    2.  Why is she posting about it on her facebook?
    3.  What didn't you or boyfriend call her out and tell her to take it down?

  • @CandaceC1020‌ We share custody with her of their kids and she doesn't live close by so trying to plan for them for the weekend incase anything did happen. She goes away sometimes on the weekends further away and we don't have anyone else to take the kids. Because she was so excited about it and believe me he called her out on it
  • My UO - I could care less about buying cutesy new baby clothes. I'm cheap and it seems like such a bad investment since they grow so fast (I also did the same thing with maternity clothes...only bought stretchy stuff I would continue to wear after baby). My SIL gave us a bunch of hand-me-downs from her twin boys, and I'm happy as a clam to dress DD in more boyish attire. Dh gets annoyed at me when I dress her in onesies that say stuff like "Daddy's Big Boy", but I find it entertaining and economical.

  • @nedralynn - makes sense.  Glad that boyfriend called her out!  :)

Just dropped my kindle on baby's head while BFing. I want her to love books, but beating her with them probably isn't the way, is it?

I actually felt SO bad, but she didn't even miss a beat with her feeding, no tears, etc.

I just laughed so hard I snorted. I hit J in the face the other day trying to pull my sports bra back down after he ate. I felt terrible!
  • LinziLoo09 as a total cheapskate I agree with you about it making no financial sense to buy a lot of baby clothes. But I do think the cute stuff is awfully cute :)  I looked around and found a secondhand store that only carries stuff for kids and bought a lot of baby clothes and things there. They carry maternity clothes too, and I got a lot of good deals on pants and skirts. I plan on selling them back a lot of this stuff when we're done with it.

  • I had to remind MH to not text cervical updates while I was in labor. When the baby is out, they can use their imaginations to determine what my lady bits look like.

My UO: I like the nightly MOTN threads. Chalupa is pretty self motivated, just slow at eating. I need seething to keep me awake! FFTC: I have also been buying stuff from Amazon.

  • @ladythrice - I'll add that to my reasons for not even doing thrifty maternity shopping :) To be honest, I also hate shopping in general, for myself or for the kid. I'd much prefer people to just do the shopping for me and give me things. I'll wear them. I'm not picky!

  • Eh, the maternity clothes I got were fine. If they had bodily fluids on them at some point I couldn't tell.
