Trying to Get Pregnant

Can we talk about prenatals and skincare?

Ever since I've started my PNVs (about a month ago, now), my face has been worse than ever before. Well, at least worse than it's been since I was a teenager! It's bad bad bad. Even DH commented on it a few days ago.

I haven't changed much in way of my diet (eat relatively well) and I drink a ton of water every day. I am doing the same skincare routine I've always done, which is nothing crazy, but has always done the trick for me (remove makeup at night, do facial scrubs in the shower). I just keep thinking it must be from the pnvs.

Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to fix it?

What PNV woes have you gone thru?

  • I take Naturemade prenatal multi + DHA and haven't run into any issues whatsoever.

  • I've had acne since I was 11, and although now in my late 20s it's not as bad as it was 15 years ago, I break out regularly. I haven't seen any change - good or bad - since starting to take PNVs.

My woes are that I'm really shitty at taking pills (which is one reason why I never went on BC) so I already forgot one day since starting PNVs four days ago.

Did you stop birth control recently? That's way more suspect than PNVs would be.
Nope. Not stopping the pill till January... The PNVs are legit the only change I've made recently... Maybe it's just the brand? But also I don't want to try to switch brands this early if it's just my body regulating? I've never been a huge vitamin taker, so I don't really know.  :-/

Anyway - totally over it and not looking forward to any Christmas Photos that are taken.

I'm really good at taking pills before bed now since I started taking SSRIs like four years ago... That'll train you up real quick.

I legit had to get one of those daily pill boxes in the beginning though to keep track. They are really helpful.

  • Hmm...that's odd. My skin has vastly improved since I started PNVs. I was expecting to be a pizza face like the last time I came off the pill, but it seems that the PNVs have actually helped me. Sorry that you're experiencing that, it's really frustrating!

    ^ +1

I finally had to put the bottle next to my toothbrush so that I'd have to see it whenever I brush my teeth. Now I need to work on remembering to eat breakfast before I leave the house so my PNV doesn't make my stomach hurt.

I found that I am battling more acne than I used to, but since I stopped BC at the same time that I started taking the PNVs I chalked it up to that.
In the past when I'd try to take women's multivitamins (that have iron in it) I'd get sick and throw up within 20 minutes. So, I'm wary of taking the PNVs first thing in the morning... I'd rather not puke in my car en route to work.

So, I take them at night with dinner... but it's hard to remember! Ugh.

I keep mine in the pantry (we have a walk-in one) and I usually see it when I'm figuring out what we'll have for dinner.  I kept it on the island in the kitchen for a while, but they wound up in the pantry for some reason.
This is smart. I think it'd kind of gross out my hubs seeing them (he's not too keen on understanding how things work, haha).

I may just keep them on my nightstand (I have a bottle of water there, too) and take them before bed, while I still have most of my dinner in my belly.

  • Stopping BC made me break out and my hormone imbalance due to PCOS makes me break out. I tend to break out right before I O, clear up for a few days then break out again right before AF. It is super fun.

My PNVs have been good, I also take nature made.

  • My skin was totally clear when I was on BCP.  When I switched from BCP to an IUD, I started to get acne.  Now that I'm off the IUD, it has gotten worse.

Aw look, my acne chart is triphastic.
