We have two French doors in our master bedroom that lead out to the patio in the backyard. I'd like to get some sort of window covering inside our master. Any suggestions? We've ordered all of our window treatments from greatwindows.com, and I love our local salesperson. I've been looking through their website and can't find anything really appropriate for a French door.
I'd love any advice or suggestions!
Re: Decorating advice needed - French doors
We have french doors that we have struggled with decorating as well. Here were the options that I came up with.
There are shades that mount on the doors themselves. Those are okay but I found them somewhat distracting for the natural architectural element that they provide.
Then you can do a curtain rod above the door with long lined curtains. Make sure that you buy the matching tie backs. Then you can have the curtains open to let the light in and enjoy the exposed door or pull the drapes when you want privacy. This is probably the better option in my book.
A trick to hanging curtains around the door is to put the rod much higher than the door trim. That way if the drapes are tied back and you want to open the door, that the edge of the door doesn't catch on the corner or a drape.
Here are some example photos to give you ideas.

(Although I think the curtain rod could be a little lower and the curtains a little shorter.
I like this look of the roman shade:

Although we currently have blinds on ours, I hate them. Especially when Ryan was smaller. My parents have roman shades on theirs and they look great.
We had french doors from our living room to our screened in porch when I was growing up. Lucky you to have them in your MB to your patio...sounds lovely! What my mom did was mount a curtain rod at the top and bottom of each door and hung a panel. Then she cinched the middle of the panel with a band of matching fabric. We didn't really need any privacy, though, so that might not work for you.
Here are some good ideas that I found when I googled french door window treatments:
