Favorite Christmas Breakfast

Since I'm hungry and food always seems to be a popular topic around here what are some of the special things you either had for Christmas breakfast as a kid or make now?

My mom always made caramel monkey bread for X-mas morning. I have some homemade cinnamon rolls in the freezer leftover from DS's baptism so we will probably have those :)

  • I always make cinnamon rolls, my mom does some egg dish, and mother in law does fruit. I will probably be doing canned rolls this year though being pregnant and having a 4 month old I'm not really an early riser these days.

  • Am I the only one that didn't have a "Christmas breakfast" growing up? I didn't know that this is something that people do until several years ago.

I plan on starting this tradition now that we have LO. I think I'm going to make some kind of monkey bread or this cinnamon roll dish that I have seen on pinterest. Then I'll prob also make eggs and bacon or sausage to go with it.

DH and I will be the only ones eating this year so I guess it really doesn't matter but, whatevs.
  • The last few years ive done a casserole that cooks overnight in the crockpot. Hash browns, egg, cheese, bacon and sausage. It's delicious!

Would you be willing to give up the recipe? I could do that!

These are both amazing and super easy:

If I had to choose one, I would go for the cheese Danish. I made these both (and have several times since) for DD's first birthday party since we did a brunch. A friend called me a few weeks ago to get the recipe for the cheese Danish. She remembered having at the party over a year ago. It's that good :)

  • I always make stuffed French toast casserole. It's super easy and totally delicious!
  • My dad makes an awesome quiche. I look forward to it. He takes leftover honeybaked ham and puts extra cheese in it. It's so good!!

  • We always do a big brunch with fruit, cinn rolls, Danishes, hashbowns, bacon, sausage, french toast, ham and egg cups... I do a smaller version now since it's just us and my in laws here in Tennessee

  • We make a breakfast dish called "Christmas morning wife saver". Layers of cheese, ham, and bread, egg mixture poured over and baked with corn flakes on top. And home made cinnamon rolls, fruit salad and mimosas. Yum!!!
  • My moms tamales!! I can't wait

  • The quiche recipe is ridiculously easy. It's just six eggs and a cup of milk in a pie crust. Add whatever other ingredients you want, like cheese, spinach, sausage, whatever. Bake for an hour at 350.

  • @MC03 I will find it for you! I remember it being super easy.  It's the type you prepare the night before and throw  in the oven the morning of.

  • My mom has always makes a sausage ring, which is basically a breakfast meatloaf in the shape of a ring. Delicious.
  • Thanks for all the recipes! I'm definitely going to try one out this year!

  • I practiced homemade cinnamon rolls so I would be ready to make them on Christmas. They do take a day or two in advance to prep then I let them so the second proof in the fridge.

How close is this eggs Benedict casserole to the real deal?!? I LOVE eggs Benedict, but can hardly find the time to make it anymore now that LO is here. If you share your recipe, I'll give you the biggest internet hug! :)
  • I think it is as close as you can get in a casserole @Eena1242
Here's the recipe I use. I sometimes substitute ham for Canadian bacon. I make the casserole the night before and let it set overnight in the fridge. All I do in the morning is pop it in the oven and make the Hollandaise sauce.
  • Egg scramble, fresh baked croissants, soft breakfast cheese, Nutella, orange juice, coffee, and champagne.
