Pregnant after IF

Placenta previa

Just wondering if any of you ladies were told you had placenta previa (complete, marginal or low lying) early on in your pregnancy which then moved up on its own as your uterus grew? Tuesday I found out my placenta is very low lying, although not covering my cervix, but that it may be contributing to some bleeding/spotting. I was told a lot of of times it moves up on its own later on.

I was thinking that many non-IF women may have this but without all these early ultrasounds they would never even know about it. Since the uterus starts out smaller and lower it seems like it may be semi common early on...and by the time most women have their next scan (anatomy scan), it's moved up. At least I'm hoping so!

Re: Placenta previa

  • ((hugs)) From being on boards like this for years, it IS very common, and it does tend to resolve itself as the pregnancy progresses. FX for you that yours MOVES!!!

  • A low lying placenta was found during our 2nd tri u/s around 18-19 weeks. A re-check in 3rd tri at 32 weeks showed it had moved away from my cervix.

  • I have complete placenta previa at 24 weeks and the doctors don't think mine is going to move based on the location of it. I have heard that most placentas do move away from the cervix. I hope you are one of the lucky ones. I belong to a FB group called Placenta Previa & Accreta Support Group which I find extremely helpful and informative. Good luck!

  • I had a non IF friend who developed it later in her pregnancy. They didn't even know she was pregnant until past 20 weeks! She took all the precautions except extreme bed rest (they had to eat) and delivered just 10 weeks later. LO had a few weeks of in hospital care but she's almost 5 now. So it all turned out well. Medicine has come a long way. Keep positive thoughts and definitely get the support from the board in the above mentioned post.
