Sleeping A LOT more

My baby girl is 7 weeks today and last night she slept almost 7 hours straight! I tried waking her up a little to eat but she was completely out of it. Today she's been dozing In and out between feedings. Doubt it will become a regular occurrence but should I worry since it isn't common for her?

Re: Sleeping A LOT more

  • Is she above birth weight?  If so sleeping through the night isn't an issue.

Enjoy it like @nicb13 said.  If you're concerned about true lethargy and abnormal behavior call your pedi.

  • Might be part of a growth spurt
  • I had 7 hours once - it could be a fluke so savor the moment.
  • Be happy...my LO usually only naps for 20-30 min at a time

Unless she's lethargic and not eating nearly enough then I'd say enjoy it.

My DD has been sleeping 9-11 hours a night since about 6 weeks old so it's possible to get long stretches like that.

Lucky! Someday this will be my kid.

  • Enjoy it! My DD sleeps 7-8 hours a night despite her crappy or non-existent naps. My only complaint is that by the time she goes to bed at night I'm too sleepy to catch up on a billion chores or even just watch TV...
