3 Car Seats Across

We recently found out we're expecting a 3rd baby. My twins will be 2 in February. We're also in the market for a new SUV and I'm wondering if anyone has been able to fit 3 car seats across a back seat in the same row. If so, what kinds of car seats, and what kind of vehicle?

I've heard that Diono Radians will fit 3 across, but I really want to put the new baby in a traditional infant seat. The twins are in Britax Marathon's which we really like and would prefer to keep. Any ideas?

We have 3 across our Traverse. We have a Britax marathon and two Chico bucket seats in one row.

Three across is totally doable with the right seats. MOST full size SUVs can make it work. But, you'll prob have to replace the marathons regardless. Britax convertibles are huge. Radians are the way to go.

We needed a new car when we found out I was having the twins and would have to do 2 buckets and a FF seat. We did Keyfits and a FF radian and when the babies switched to convertibles we are doing 2 radians and a frontier.

We have an Acura MDX. Same platform as a Honda Pilot. Hondas are popular for three across. We also have a Subaru forester and haven't tried fitting three across but I'm not hopeful it could be done.

Research the hip room in the backseat. Sometimes even large cars have small hip rooms and/or wonky set ups (like dips between seats) that would limit your options. We did a lot of research and test drove a lot of cars.

Thank you all for your replies. This is very helpful and reassuring. Sounds like I'll need to get 1 Diono Radian to replace 1 of Marathons, but then we should be able to make it work.

@chrissynena We're considering the Traverse so it's great to hear you can fit 3 carseats. Oru other option is the Mazda CX9.

@MrsEzStar Thanks for that link. Turns out it's possible to fit 3 car seats across the back of my Accord, which we'll be keeping (replacing DH's car), so that takes off some of the pressure in this decision.

We get three across in a Toyota highlander. 1 diono and 2 infant seats. We had a Britax but we couldn't make it work. Car seat for the littles is an awesome resource!
