June 2015 Moms

is it normal that I am 15 weeks pregnant and haven't gained any weight?

hi first time mom here. I'm 15 weeks and three days as of today and I was just wondering is it normal that I haven't gained any weight? in fact I lost some pounds. I've always been on the small side 115 since freshman year of high school I'm 20 years old now and before I was pregnant I weighed 111 pounds now I'm down to 109. my doctors say it's nothing to worry about right now, but I'm a little concerned reading my pregnancy books and looking things up on the Internet. any feedback? I would appreciate it greatly (:

Im 15 weeks and 3 days too, so we're at the exact same stage. Since falling pregnant, Ive actually lost 4lb in weight... but midwifes and doctors all say that both myself and my baby are extremely healthy and Im considered a very low risk. so I wouldnt worry at all :)

  • PS: If your doctor is not worried, then you shouldn't be worried either.

  • I definitely second what PPs have said about using the search function (seriously - you're going to find a lot of other women who are experiencing this and just that fact alone will make you feel better). Additionally, I think it's a pretty safe generalization that you should always take your OB's word over Dr Google or a pregnancy book - only your OB is going to be able to comment on your specific situation.
  • Seems like a good bit of us are not showing... Losing weight... Or didn't gain much... You are fine. Welcome to the big show
  • I'm the same 15 weeks and no weight gain, my mom was concerned but both nurses and my doctor said it was normal and nothing to worry about. :)

  • I'm in the same boat - started at 118, dropped to 113 in first trimester, now at 115 at 15.3 weeks.. My doc says for smaller ladies he doesn't expect high weight gain and that weight gain doesn't really correlate to baby size. However in cruel irony, despite little weight gain, none of my pants fit: I guess the weight is just being "redistributed"!
  • Im 16 weeks one day and havent gained any. Whewww considering how much you pack on in the last trimester!
  • Just lucky OP. Don't worry. I don't think I've gained weight but I'll find out at my next midwife appointment (:

  • I'm not small (pretty average actually) and hadn't gained any weight at week 15. I wouldn't worry about it at this point. If you're eating well, I think you'll be fine! My doctor wasn't too worried about it either.
  • I'm 15w4d and since becoming pregnant, I've lost 6lbs. At my appointment on Monday, I was weighed and I gained 1lb back. My OB said it was fine as long as I was eating a balanced diet and getting enough nutrients for the baby. I think it's normal to be concerned if you've lost weight because that's not what we're told is normal, really. But as long as your doctor says you're doing fine, believe that you are. :)
  • Same here, FTM and 15 weeks and I lost weight since getting pregnant. I also have a vey small build (only 108lbs) and my dr said not to worry as long as I am eating healthy and taking my prenatal vitamins. Wishing you a healthy and successful pregnancy!
