Question for cold weather mamas

Sorry if this was asked before! Im living in MA and am going a bit stir crazy being stuck indoors... My babies are high risk so I can't take them to malls or other crowded spaces to get out of the house until after flu season is over :( I'd love to start going for walks around the neighborhood but it's getting pretty chilly out...
For moms living in cold areas how do you keep your LOs warm for walks in the winter? Do you use a Bundle Me or something like it? Appreciate any advice :)

Re: Question for cold weather mamas

  • I have a jj cole cover that goes over the car seat (my stroller uses the infant car seat). I also dress her warmly and use a blanket depending on how cold it is. We went for a walk last week and it started to flurry and she was plenty warm!

  • I have little girl in one of the fleecy snowsuits, then in my Boba wrap and then my coat over both of us.  Not sure if that helps or if you are looking for using a stroller.
  • I can't figure out the bundleme to save our lives. So she gets wrapped in a fleece blanket in addition to a bunting--seems fine.

  • I addition to whatever LO is already wearing, I put him in a knit wool bunting that my aunt made and a hat. I also have a Cozy Covet for the car seat and that clicks into the stroller. It's very warm in there!
  • @KatieOz920‌ I'm in MA too! What part of the state do you live in? I'm in the North Shore area.

    We haven't been able to be outside much either...there were a few days I took her for a 10 min walk outside when it was 45 degrees and she did ok. I have the JJ Cole car seat cover that we use when we take her out to appointments and that seems to keep her warm. We usually fold up a blanket and tuck it in as well, only covering her to her waist though and also have her wearing warm fleece pj's and a hat.

    I've been wanting to get out and go for walks, but I also have no where indoors to go, other than a mall. I'm trying to avoid taking her to the mall, but it's getting harder every day - I just want to be out and walking! I was thinking of going to the mall to walk around if I could get there just as they open, so it wouldn't be too crowded.

    Some of our malls open an hour earlier in the morning for indoor walking. I'm not in a cold weather state.

  • When it gets cold here, i dont go for walks. But it gets to -30/-50*C here in the winter. Not tsking her out in that!
  • We also have the shower cal style JJ Cole bundle me and I'll put an addion blanket in there as well. I also bought the jj cole fleece set (hat, mittens, slippers) that we use to go to the pedi appts. No big excursions yet but the ergo Infant insert is supposed to be super warm so I will be trying that out later today on our first walk.

    @KatieOz920‌ & @everydaygirl83‌ I'm also in MA :) MetroWest area.

    I'm w/ you on the stir crazy thing. We've gone for walks on the milder days. I also use the BundleMe on their car seats (I have a snap&go stroller). Plus hats & warm blankets tucked in their car seats. Not looking forward to the weather getting worse though!

    It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!

  • After not being able to leave the house since Thursday, I'm at my cabin fever breaking point. I saw that the mall that's 15 mins from my house has extended hours for Christmas, so I'm planning to take the baby for a walk tomorrow morning. The mall opens at 8, so I'm hoping it won't be too crowded, especially on a Monday.
    @gldnbearz‌ - the mall nearest to me no longer allows early morning walking hours, due to construction :(
  • Thanks for the advice ladies! Sounds like a BundleMe or Cuddle bag and just bundling them up underneath is the best way to go :)
    @MrsC430‌ and @everydaygirl83‌ oh nice! I'm in Marlborough :)

    @Maelara‌ O_o that's too cold for me too... Are you in Canada?
  • Yes, I'm in Canada, lol!
