Pregnant after a Loss

Bought first pair of maternity jeans - here comes PgAL brain

So last pg I didn't get far enough along to need maternity clothes.  Now I noticed my jeans are getting a little more snug.  Plus my ONE pair of jeans was starting to get really worn out and I needed a new pair of jeans.  I figured why buy normal jeans when I will need maternity soon?

I'm 11 weeks today.  We've had a really good u/s with a good h/b and lots of baby movement.  I've felt good about this pg so far.

But something about buying those maternity jeans.  And getting all these coupons.  And being told they would send diaper coupons the closer I get to my due date.

It brought me back to getting an email from the cord blood bank a few months ago asking me if I had decided to bank my baby's cord blood since I was approaching my EDD.  And having to respond that no, I won't.  Because I no longer have a baby.

I know I can't jinx this pregnancy by buying jeans or by signing up for coupons.  But somehow it brings a lot of fear.

Oh and we also got a free bottle.  The first baby bottle I have ever owned.

Slowly baby stuff is coming into our house and it brings lots of mixed emotions.

I know I'm not alone in this.  Just had to get it out there in the universe.

Today I am pregnant and I LOVE my baby.
Just because it happened once doesn't mean it will happen again.

  • @mpiemont I'm constantly nauseous so I'm taking it as a good sign!  I'm getting to the point where I want to see my bean again though - it's been 3 wks since our u/s and I'm getting anxious for another scan.  I may have to talk my Dr. into doing another one.  So far they have given me everything I want when I tell them I m/cd last time lol  They saw me earlier than normal and did two beta draws.

  • I am also eleven weeks and a few days and DH and I went shopping this weekend for some initial maternity clothes. I hesitated, and DH asked me if buying a size or two larger in regular clothes would actually make me feel better or if I would be anxious regardless. Good point! I've decided to be excited about the progress and ignore the anxiety. Sending hugs!

  • I had the same kind of dilemma at that time. I first got a belly band then came the pants and more recently I've started wearing the shirts. I feel like each is a different step. It's so scary. It's ok to feel that way.

  • I've definitely felt that way (and still do to some extent!). You are probably far enough along to get a quick HR check at the doctor (with the Doppler) to give yourself a little peace of mind if they won't do an ultrasound. I always feel better after hearing or seeing the heartbeat.
  • Thanks ladies. You make me feel so normal!!
@Megdowntheshore‌ maternity pants are sooooo comfy! Haha I told MH I may never go back to real pants lol

Glad to know it is normal to feel this way.  I have all my old maternity stuff in storage.  I am dying to put on maternity jeans, but I can't bring myself to get them out until our first appt and we get a heartbeat.  PgAL brain gets to me more than it should.  I may cave and at least dig out the bella band.

  • Definitely normal! I left the first round of maternity clothes I bought in the packaging for almost a month, just in case I had to return them. Where the heck did you buy that you got all those extra goodies?

  • @pblge I got it all at motherhood maternity. They gave me gift cards to use toward a nursing pillow, car seat cover, nursing cover, and baby sling to where you basically get them for free! Also I got a year subscription to parents magazine for 2.99 and it cancels itself after a year. I racked up!!!

  • Big ((HUGS)).  Before/after each big "step" like telling someone new, buying maternity clothes, doing our pink/blue reveal, having "it's a girl" photos taken to announce on holiday cards, searching for day care options... I always find myself fighting that feeling and end up using my home doppler just as a reminder that I am pregnant and my baby is healthy.  I hope you find your maternity jeans as much as a relief as I did my first pair!  Thank goodness for elastic! ;)
  • ((hugs)) Aren't all the little triggers just wonderful, she asked sarcastically?  Enjoy the maternity pants and ignore those awful feelings the best that you can!

  • Have you thought about getting an at home Doppler? It would probably take a few weeks to be able to hear a heartbeat consistently, but I know I love mine and it gives me piece of mind.

  • I hate those doubts that creep up! I hope you can ignore them and just enjoy your comfy new pants!
  • We have to try and take it slow one day at a time even though our crazy brain just wants to race up ahead and wonder what will happen. Just remember that today you are pregnant so you might as well try and enjoy it.
Hope all goes well for you and that precious LO.
