I'm having a lot of pain in my groin area. Sitting, walking, standing, squatting. Just wondering if it is because he is still dropping? Of if there is something wrong. Help me mommy's!

Re: 38wks + and pain in my groin!

  • I'm 38 weeks also and have been having that pelvic pain for the last 2-3 weeks. My dr says it's just the baby's position and the weight of the baby. So you aren't alone feeling that! It's a very uncomfortable feeling! We're almost there!

  • I don't have any experience with this, but I'm sorry you're in pain.  Hope you find some answers or figure out something that makes you semi-comfortable again.

  • My pelvis hurts when I roll over in bed, its the relaxin. Also if I sit in a hard chair too long, standing is uncomfortable til things settle back in place... like at a restaurant.

  • I'm 38 weeks I have had that same pain for over a week. Enjoy baby getting in position I asked doc at my 38 w apt.
  • I am feeling the same.  Intense pressure in the lower part of my uterus and occasional pain in the groin area.  My OB tells me that it's baby's position since she's dropped.  If the pain is occasional that I don't think there's anything to worry about (as long as your doctor doesn't seem concerned at your check ups) but if you are concerned, or if it's frequent, there's no harm in calling your doctor and asking him or her what he or she thinks.  Better safe than sorry right? :-)
  • Sorry you are having the pain! But I am glad you posted... I have the same annoying pain and its walking, sitting, especially bad after running.

  • I'm 38 weeks as well... I've been having groin pain... it's kind of that 'lightening crotch' ppl talk about.. is that what you're experiencing? If so, my Dr told me that it's most likely due to baby dropping & resting some of their weight on your cervix. SO apparently while it's not fun, it's a good sign that LO is getting ready to come play! Hope you feel better!!
  • I started having pain near the front of my pelvis at 30 weeks and immediately started seeing my chiropractor more often. It's not constant, only during certain movements and its maybe a 2-3 on the pain scale at it's worst. I have mild symphis public dysfunction which is really common in pregnancy. The relaxin causes your pelvis to want to spread and the joints at the front become unstable. She gave me a list of exercises and I've already seen a huge improvement in the past 2 weeks. Later (36+ weeks) the baby drops and can cause cervical and pelvic pressure but this isn't painful for most people according to my chiro and SPD is the most common cause.

I find that I feel best when I get light exercise and keep proper posture. Sitting in the car, getting out of bed, etc. have to be done more carefully. I'm sure it'll get worse before it gets better but it's just par for the course at this point I guess.

  • I understand your pain...I'm 38 weeks too! Unfortunately I haven't dilated none but it's okay because I'm having a scheduled c section on the 23...good luck and just take it easy and relax:)
