Thanks for thinking about us! We took her into the ER last night once we heard how hard it was for her to take a breath. It sounded like she was only getting about half the amount of air she usually does. She was crying and coughing so hard.
She tested negative for RSV/flu and they said it is severe croup. They gave her a steroid shot and started breathing treatments. Unfortunately, she didn't respond to any treatment. Her lungs are fine but her airways are so narrow that she's struggling to take breaths.
After poking her several times and a good hour of her screaming they decided to fly us to a bigger hospital. They started more breathing treatments and moved her to the pediatrics ward. We are still here just monitoring her. They said her airways are still very tight but she is finally responding to treatment.
Hoping to go home today but we will see! She's sleeping pretty good now since she had an exhausting night. The first time she's ever slept in a crib without a swaddle or Zipadee Zip and she actually didn't cry. If only she could do that at home!
@Joy1192, How scary!! So glad to hear that she is doing better and you are headed home! I hope that you are all able to get some much needed rest tonight!
So glad that your LO is feeling somewhat better and that you all are getting to go home. I hope that she continues to get better. Thanks for keeping us updated. Beautiful little princess by the way!
