So superficial...

But what in the world do you wear while in labor?
Hospital gown? Cotton nightgown? DH's favorite t-shirt?

My hospital bag feels incomplete and I feel unprepared.

Re: So superficial...

  • I wore a hospital gown. They had me change as soon as I checked in and verified my water had broken.

  • I plan on just wearing a hospital gown. I have looked into the Gownies, but decided not to spend the money on one, although they are adorable.

  • Hospital gown. I'm glad to rip that thing off as soon as possible after the birth, and it does come off so nicely. My hospital has "robes" that we can wear over the gown when we want. It's not stylish, but I am always focused on the miracle of what's happening that I couldn't care less about "style."
  • I went with just a gown for my laboring last time. I'll have a RCS this time, so gown it is.

  • Hospital gown but I did buy a cute robe/pjs for the recovery room stay
  • Hospital Gown for L&D and looking for a cute pj set or going with yoga pants and a nursing top for afterwards.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Hospital gown with nothing underneath. I started off with a sports bra underneath but within an hour I didn't care. I wanted it off and just be in the gown. I had a cute pair of pjs I wore in the hospital once I was moved to postpartum and showered. I wore yoga pants and a maternity t shirt home.
  • With DD1 and 2, the hospital I birthed at said nothing under the hospital gown. I'm guessing that no bra would be easier for skin to skin and the first time at the breast. And yeah, birth isn't "neat". Why not let the hospital clean up your gown? (You can ask for a 2nd gown to cover your butt).
  • I started in a cotton maternity skirt (knee length) and long sleeved top, and zip-up cardigan. As I got warmer, I removed items. By the time I gave birth, I was down to just the skirt and bra, if I remember correctly. I did skin to skin right away and the nurses warned me that it might stain my bra, but I didn't really care. (As it turns out, the stains washed out with stain stick.)
  • I'm with @poopylove‌ but I'm in Germany. I have vaginal exams every 3 weeks and there are no papers, gowns, or even a place to privately take your pants off when in the OB's office. So, I change in a corner, walk across the exam room with my male doc hanging out waiting for me and my husband trying not to laugh at my bare ass. Be naked and free like your baby to be!
  • @jeanzcarol‌ It's the exact same here! They are also obsessed with monitoring weight gain, so in addition to the above I waddle naked across the room to be weighed at the start of each appointment! This is my first pregnancy so I had no idea that having a routine pelvic every couple of weeks wasn't "the norm" until my friend told me that she went through her entire pregnancy without one! :(( At this stage the nakedness no longer bothers me, so hopefully I won't care about any of the embarrassing stuff that happens during L&D!
  • @poopylove‌ I would love to be weighed naked! Instead I'm in all my layers because it's absolutely freezing here all the time. And yes, constantly being weighed also. But because it's in metric I just ignore the number and pretend it's lbs. So currently I weigh as much as a 13 year old!

You are the girl from the birthing video DH and I saw in our childbirth class! Same outfit and all the women were like I want to wear that! :)

    Lol!
For your next appointment just strip off once you get through the door and strut over to the scales, I'm sure they'd be very obliging!
I agree i don't pay attention to the numbers or even try to convert :)
