Low Blood Platelet Count

I was wondering if there are any women that are having an issue with this during this pregnancy and/or a previous one. At my last appointment I was told that my count is much lower than it should be. My doctor wasn't sure if it is on a downward trend or it just temporarily dropped. I've got more blood work scheduled for the 29th to determine which it may be. I know it could increase bleeding during birth and could make it much more difficult to receive an epidural. Any past or current experience with this?

My friend had this toward the end of her pregnancy and I know they took him sooner because of it but she was having a repeat c section. I don't know how they would handle it with a vaginal birth.

  • Mine is low, too. My dr said it can happen during pregnancy, and shouldn't cause issues with clotting unless your level is like under 50. I think the normal range is 150-400, and mine is 125. But of course, see what yours has to say.
