BF and antibiotics

I just found out I have a UTI (no symptoms). Due to my allergy to penicillin and the type of UTI I have, my only choice is Bactrim. Any moms out there BF and take this antibiotic? My pediatrician says it's ok, when I went to pick up the script the pharmacist said absolutely not.

    I would call your pediatrician again and to make sure. I am also allergic to penicillin and was given Levaquin (not sure if thats the correct spelling) for a UTI. My UTI was really bad but this was befor I was pregnant. It was some hard core antibiotics and made me feel horrible. Drugs.com says it is considered safe but should be used with caution. And for BF no younger than 2mo old.

    That is what my doc prescribed for me. DH and I did some research on it and it said it was fine to take while BFing. I admit to still being nervous while taking it though.
