Ear Infections

Am I right in thinking that ear infections are pretty uncommon in infants, 4-5 months specifically? DD has already had 1 & now she is acting like her ears are bothering her again.

Re: Ear Infections

  • My first had ear infections from 4 to 9 months, almost once a month.  It sucked.

  • Common in many children. Some can go years without one and others get them often.

Thanks. I know that they are common, I just don't remember my others ever having them till later, 10-12 months.
  • I was an EI monster as a baby/toddler, and my mom's first clue once I started to babble more was that I'd start singing and cooing in the middle of the night because it sounded weird to me and I evidently like the strange noises. Our pedi has already been warning us about them and we're only 3 months old especially once she found out that I got them so much.

  • I had them constantly as a kiddo. So far none here but we're only nine months in.

  • We do chiropractic in conjunction with the reg pedi. DS had one about a month ago and we started antibiotics and then did the chiro. She explained that generally the antibiotics clear up the infection but doesn't help with fluid build up - Hence the reoccurrence. Baby adjustments just look like they are giving a little massage, nothing scary. It has helped both our kids (or maybe it's a coincidence but it can't hurt to try)

  • I agree.  There was also a kid in her room that went home sick yesterday & the mom called today & said it was RSV.  So we are back to the doctor today at 3 to get her checked out.  Thanks y'all.  I just didn't realize EIs are so common in the wee little ones.
