Re: Fibroid question

  • No fibroid experience, but wanted to say HOORAY for a great scan! Great news!

  • I have a small one now. My doc said they are normally no problem, but sometimes they cause pain during pregnancy. She said if they did, they would treat the pain. Congrats on the good report.

I certainly don't have an answer from the pgal side of things, but I am feeling like a bit of an expert on fibroids from a TTC stand point.  My understanding is that generally they are not a problem during a pregnancy.  About 40% of the population will get them at some point and they are almost always benign.  There are 3 types: submucosal, subserosal, and intramural.  The submucosal type has the most effect on TTC, the others are most likely not an issue.  I, unfortunately, have the problem kind.

This. I actually have a few small ones, but my OB said that they don't worry until they get large.  They usually dont affect the pregnancy at all.  Best of luck to you!
