Caitlin nn Katie?

DH and I both like the name Caitlin (Katelin, Kaitlin, not a fan of any of the -yn spellings), but if we wanted to use the nn Katie, which spelling is best? I know Caitlin is the original Irish so that's what I prefer, but Catie seems odd. WDYT?

    I don't think Catie looks odd at all. Not any more so than Catherine nickname Cate, and I've seen that plenty. I know a Catie actually.

    Anyways - Caitlin nickname Katie is a million times more acceptable than butchering Caitlin to get something that is closer to Kate/Katie. I hate all other spellings of Caitlin. 

    FWIW Caitlin is a really sweet name! You will have to spell it practically every single time unfortunately because the misspellings are more popular than the real spelling.

    Caitlin, NN Katie is fine.

    The NN does not have to have all of the same letters that the formal name has.

    Catie doesn't look odd to me either but I've known a few. But either way Caitlin is lovely and Katie is fine as the nickname.

    Awesome name! Katie is fine with Caitlin.
    I think it's also a lot less popular these days, so she should get lucky and not end up living with 4 other Katie's, a Cate, a Caitlin, and a Cailin in college :)

    Unfortunately, it is true that no one will ever spell it right. And if you/she spell it too fast people will look at you with a blank stare. And the DMV might possibly transpose some letters and she might not notice until someone points out that the t is before the i... Not that I would know from experience or anything.

    Another Caitlin here. I went by Cait or Caitie as a child. 

    Diagnosed PCOS 2013
    7th Round of Fertility treatment (Femara + Ovidrel + IUI) 12/14 = BFP. DS born Sept.15 
    Natural BFP Feb 2017. DD born Oct. 2017
    Natural BFP Aug. 2019, EDD April 2020
