Achy back pain... What could it be?!

im 33 weeks and for 3 days I've now had an achy lower back, it gets a little worse at times but it's constant, I'm getting more Braxton hicks now and the amount of discharge has lowered. I don't want to call my midwife as she is useless and I don't want to mither anyone if it's just a symptom of pregnancy... Could it be back labour? Could it be baby engaging? Someone please help

Re: Achy back pain... What could it be?!

  • simple answer - if you are concerned - talk to your dr about it.

It could be something as simple as the fact that you have a baby growing on the front side of your body, throwing your center of balance off and causing back pain.

  • Well I'll be under the age of 21 when I give birth and in my area you have midwives that specialise in that age range, there is only the one I've got who is in our area so I basically have no choice & I haven't suffered from back pain any other time, I'm still quite small for how far gone I am and it's been constant for 3 days, nothing I do eases it unless I apply heat but I can still feel it and it is uncomfortable, my left arm and leg are very achy too
  • If you dont trust your useless midwife then why is she delivering your baby?

Could be pain from a big ole belly, could be back labor, could even be a kidney infection (ive had them hurt in my back). You need to call a medical professional to discuss your symptoms instead of asking here. If your useless midwife wont help then call your hospital and ask to speak to a labor and deliver triage nurse.

  • She won't be present during the birth, she's just someone who keeps track of the pregnancy and then she will be in contact once baby is here. I just feel like I'm mithering someone every time I ring up because if it's nothing then I've wasted their time :/
  • Okay, I will call them! Thank you

What kind of strange voodoo is this?! Who will be delivering your child?

You arent bothering her. This is what you effing pay her for. When you pay people for services you shouldn't apologize for using them.

  • Back labor isnt usually constant pain...probably normal pregnancy pain. If its pain coming and going every 7 mins at least then i would call my dr, but other than that i wouldnt. Alternate ice/heat for a bit and see if that helps.
