Pregnant after a Loss

20 wk scan on Monday and I'm nervous

Hey all,
We have our big AS in Monday and I'm a bundle of nerves. After two first trimester losses I can't get the past that we've made it this far. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Also, any tips/tricks to getting through the scan without wetting my pants? Do I wait to drink water until thirty minutes before?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks

  • I have no advice, but I wanted to let you know my t&ps are with you. (HUGS)

I've found the intense feelings of having to go after drinking all the water is worse while I'm waiting to be called back. Once on the table, I've been distracted enough that it hasn't been bad. I've also always been allowed to use the restroom a little ways in.

  • Good luck! I'm always super worried going into ultrasounds too. Did they tell you to have a full bladder for this ultrasound. I didn't need to have a full bladder for the 18/20 week only for the earlier scans.

  • Thanks ladies. I know that PGAL brain is just screwing with me, but it still sucks.

  • I have been the same way through this entire pregnancy, I have also experienced 2 first tri losses and I tend to hold my breath before every appointment until they find the heartbeat. I don't really have any tricks for getting through the appointment without wetting your pants, for my A/S I emptied my bladder before leaving the house then drank water all the way there, I didn't even drink half of what they told me to and the u/s tech acted like my bladder was too full.. she made me empty my bladder half way through and then finished the scan. So I would say don't drink so much that you make yourself uncomfortable, you will already feel like you have to pee from being nervous, adding a super full bladder just makes it miserable. Good luck, sending t&p that everything goes great!

  • Good luck Monday.  No matter how many milestones you pass, there always seems to be a new hurdle or worry to creep in.  Hopefully a great scan will bring you some peace for awhile.

  • I was a total nervous wreck before mine, and I don't know if there's a way to avoid that when you've had losses. They wanted my bladder empty, so that wasn't a problem for me. Good luck! Will be watching for your update!

    Everyone Welcome

  • My sheet says to drink 32 oz of water an hour before. My doctor said I didn't have to drink that much but never clarified how much to drink. I figure I'll wing it and pray for the best. Thanks ladies we leave in a couple hours and I'm trying to stay calm.
