For me it's either 1a or 3a. I have noticed that LO is giving himself at karate lessons at that time so I am pretty positive that is what wakes me up.
My solution is I have found I can reliably sleep between 8:00p and 1a which is 5 hours and I'm good with that. I usually get 2-4 additional early morning hours in too before I'm up for work
This. My little guy does karate around 3, too. Sometimes I can get back to sleep, sometimes notsomuch.

I'm so glad I'm not the only mom who has a future soccer player or karate black belt in her right now! Haha
I usually wake up around 4 or 5 get sick (thanks MS) and make myself a cup of sleepy time tea...so far that usually puts me right back to sleep until 8ish.
This last week since being on bedrest I've been able to take a nice 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I feel so exhausted after lunch time. I feel for all of you working mamas or moms who have children already! Pregnancy must be a thousand times harder with a LO!
Not trying to brag, seriously. I can sympathize with the baby gymnastics waking you up though. It's crazy how much power they can pack in there while they're still so little
I suffer pregnancy insomnia with every pregnancy. It occurs from 2AM - 4AM every night without reason. I am usually a sound sleeper and nothing wakes me up. I will fall back asleep at 4AM until 6AM when I need to get up for work, but it makes for a tired day.
My LO is breech and loves to kick me in the bladder all night. I'm on meds to sleep and even with them I get maybe 4 hours. At least I'm getting lots of time to read!
Typically twice a night. 2:00 and 3:30. DH was sawing logs two nights ago, I and was awake for three hours straight. When people say "enjoy the sleep while you can, you'd better stock up on it," I want to throat punch them. I haven't had a good night's sleep in months.
I'm with you, girls. Only a group of preggos can sympathize with this. Mention this in front of other people and you will get a "just wait until the baby comes!" Comments like that make me want to kick people.
Yupyup, I need to pee at 12-3-6-9, so I get up twice at night. Luckily, I fall asleep right away so I feel really bad for those who can't get back asleep
I can't seem to turn my mind off . Lol .. I lay in bed thinking about everything I've done , need to do or would like to do .. It's exhausting but I have the worse insomnia .. I toss and turn back and forth.. So frustrating because my sleep schedule is so screwed up now ! :-S
So I'm not alone in this misery! Just posted about my 2:00 am insomnia in the symptoms thread. I can't even blame it on karate chopping Baby Bean cuz while she's a mover & a shaker, she's not yet (knock on wood) been able to wake me from a solid slumber. Nope, it just seems to be my witching hour (aka. time to lay away for hours on end and contemplate all of life's conundrums).
I've found if my bathroom break is about 4-5 am or later I can't go back to sleep and I just toss and turn. I've recently started using a peaceful alarm for 2:30am for my nightly bathroom break. So far this has helped immensely as I can go back to sleep. I hope this can help some of you too ;-)
@SmileDamnit You're definitely not alone! I actually asked my doc about taking Benadryl before bed to be able to sleep. Fortunately, he said that was cool as long as I don't do it too often. I believe Benadryl is a class B med, so it's safe during pregnancy, and the active ingredient is also the active ingredient in LOTS of sleep aids (ZzzQuil, Tylenol PM, Advil PM, etc). I've been trying not to have to take it, but with work and other responsibilities I don't always have time for an afternoon nap and the sleepless nights are killing me!
The other bit of advice I have is to get a body pillow. It makes turning over a chore but putting one end between my knees and hugging the other end makes trying to get comfortable so much easier.
Thanks, @Scarlettg! I'll ask my doc about Benadryl if it continues cuz something has got to give! I did get a body pillow and it's definitely helped. Seriously debating getting another one for the other side (so I don't have to try to flip that monster over with me), but I worry that it'll forever damper my ability to cuddle with DH .
1:49 am. daily. like clockwork WTF is that anyway?
