FTM Bloopers...

We may or may not have had something similiar to this already but what oopsies have you done with your newborn that were embarrassing but easy fixes.

Mine was last night. A coworker of my MIL had her ds last November and has been giving us his outgrown and no longer needed stuff. Included was a bunch of Avent bottles. I THOUGHT I had checked all of the nipples on the 4 Oz to ensure they were size 1 before cleaning and sanitizing and apparently overlooked the one random size 3 in the bunch. Can you guess which nipple was on the prepped bottle for dh last night? Yea.... poor LO choked, mommy and daddy freaked, but all was well thank goodness. Mommy felt horrible when it was diccovered. It was literally just one nipple out of 20 bottles!!

I think I posted this in randoms at the time, but I'll post again.

LO's first trip out of the house was the day after we got home to the pediatrician. I was a wreck that they would tell us we were doing everything wrong (her outfit is too hot or too cold, the car seat isn't buckled right, etc...). The first thing they had us do when we got there was strip her down. It was then that I realized I had never packed or considered bringing a diaper bag. No wipes, no diapers, no nothing. Oops...

When we started our own bottles after coming home from the hospital I put them together wrong for like 3 days. I only realized it when I accidentally assembled one of the nipples correctly.

When we first brought her home I was burping her over my knee like the nicu nurses did but I grabbed her neck by accident and she choked and coughed. I wanted to forget about that!!

Had been advised to aim his penis down before doing up his diaper to avoid an accident. Got him home & forgot to do this. Poor guy peed up through his diaper, onesie & blanket. I didn't think an accident would be that drastic from not aiming it down!!

Mine is a little more random but I generally wear contacts during the day and use my glasses at night. Because of that my glasses are old and the frames are a bit stretched out. Last night as I was nursing my LO they slipped off my face and hit him in the head!!! My One hand was on his head and the other was on my boob getting it in his mouth. I could feel them slipping but I didn't want let go BC was about to latch. Oppps! He was fine bc my face was close enough to his that the distance they fell was small. They will be removed now prior to all night feedings. :-)

I had my worst ever moments all with DS1. Once I accidentally banged his head into a doorframe when he was a few weeks old. I felt so bad. I was so tired my depth perception was way off! Then, worse, once I was at my sister's house when he was a couple months old. I put him in the infant car seat, carried him to the car, drove half an hour to our home... And only then realized I never put his buckles on. Oh god, the guilt and "what ifs." Then, one of the worst was when he was 3 months and I was going for a walk with him in the Moby, and I was wearing flipflops. An uneven piece of pavement caught my shoe and I fell, HARD. Took the skin off my elbow but I got an arm around him... But I couldn't tell whether or not I had saved his head from hitting the sidewalk, and he was screaming. Just screaming. He ended up being fine, and I was just bruised and bloodied, but it was about the scariest moment of my life. I think the worst I've done with DS2 and LO is scratching them accidentally.

We had quite the incident in the mall parking lot when we used the stroller for the first time. We couldn't detach the car seat from the stroller base and it was crazy windy and snowing. I was shielding LO from the wind with my body plus he we had a car seat cover on, but I was still so upset. Plus it was time for him to eat and he was screaming (hence why we were going home). I had practiced with the stroller at home, but I couldn't remember when it came time. Luckily DH was there and figured it out or I probably would have cried.

I hit his head (gently) on the car seat carry-handle. I now put it down when I take him in or out.

We had a family xmas and forgot bottles! (FF here). Normally we make up bottles & take with us, but we decided to grab the formula and distilled water to take (well water at our house). Oops!! Thankfully aunties house isn't too far away!

ETA: one of his gr aunts came to visit, the cat ran in, so I picked it up with my free hand and it had a claw out & accidentally surface scratched LOs leg. I watched that scratch like a hawk until it went away.

Parker and I took beck to meet Santa last week and brought the stroller in. After pictures, I put him back in his stroller but didn't buckle his car seat because we were just walking around. When we left, he was covered with a blanket and had his canopy over him, so I didn't realize he was unbuckled while getting in the car. I didn't notice it until Parker stopped at a gas station.... Mommy fail! I felt so bad!!

I spilt coffee on Beckham but luckily it wasn't even warm!

I did this once with DS. We were at a shopping district and I took DS out of the car seat to change/feed him. I didn't rebuckle him because I figured he'd need changed/fed again. It was cold outside, so I had blankets over him. Got in the car, drove to another store (not too far, maybe 1/2 mile) realized then that he wasn't buckled in. I felt like the worst mom ever!

I had a stupid moment at Target yesterday. I have a 2-year-old, so our stroller has been set up for him, meaning that I had removed the car seat clips to attach the tray. I didn't think about this, threw the stroller in the car and headed out. Got there, set up the stroller, get baby out of the car, and realize there's nothing to attach the car seat to. Had to put her in the cart instead, which meant she was almost buried in items by the time I was checking out.

I'll also plug a PSA here: The only safe way to put a carseat in a shopping cart is the main basket area. NOT on top of the child seat part.

The other day I went to the craft store with my sister. I had DS in a long sleeve onesie with sweat pants and a fleece lined hoody. I had the hood over him and brought his hat and a thin blanket. I always pack an extra hat and thick blanket. It got really windy by the time we got out and I discovered that he outgrew both hats and I forgot to pack the thick blanket. Luckily his travel system shields the wind well but I felt like such a jerk because what if he was cold? I saw a twin mom walking around and her kids were super bundled. I could feel her judging this when we struck up a conversation.

I did this the other day I needed to run into a store and didn't have a carrier with me and for some reason didn't think to carry him in his car seat (what I usually do or put him in the stroller which is always in my trunk) so I carried him into the store. Wearing a long sleeve onsie and fleece pants maybe a sweatshirt I don't remember I carried him into the store

With DS1 I woke to feed him in the middle of the night in a sleepy haze. I picked him up from his crib and walked him to the living room couch. It was then I realized as I tried to bf his feet that I had picked him up and carried him upside down through the house.

@abbyful yes! This drives me crazy! DH asked me the other day why I always put her car seat in the basket when "everyone always puts their car seats on top". I actually know a girl who did this with her son & when she was walking out of the store she hit a bump in the parking lot & his car seat fell off of the cart. Baby was ok thank goodness..but still! Scary!

I did the - I took him out not properly dressed - he had on a fleecey one piece pajama outfit but I didn't have a hat with me. I was trying to take him out of the car seat and put him into the Moby wrap outside before going into New Mommy group which meets at my local grocery store. The wind was really blowing and I swear every person who saw him outside without a hat was judging.

He also squirmed during his first bath and bonked his head on the side. I panicked until I realized 1) he wasn't crying and 2) he has wacked his head into my chin and DH's chin harder than that when we're holding him and he gets squirmy.

Thank goodness babies are tougher than they look!

You all dont know how good it is to read that I'm not the only one who has forgotten to buckle the carseat straps. I can't even express how much Mommy Guilt I've felt over this! I can tell you,it taught me a lesson, never again!

My kid just peed on his face. Its in his hair and everything! Mama needs to work on changing diapers in a more timely manner but it's hard when there is poop involved.

So my lady parts were hurting last night so I took one of the pain pills they gave me when I left the hospital.. Well I guess it made me loopy? About 4 this morning LO was almost asleep and I decided to side feed him in bed thinking he would go to sleep. Well I fell asleep

when I woke up at 5 he was still eating/sucking on my boob. I felt like I over fed him cause when I got up every time I burped him he spit up. Arg.

Also earlier last night when he was actually asleep I had a dream LO got my boob out by himself and was feeding.. Woke up and my boob was still covered up lol

Last night was a little crazy, prolly not taking those anymore.

Definitely not alone!!! LO has peed on his face once or twice. The other day I was changing him thinking he was done pooping, as I reached for a baby wipe I quickly discovered he was not done ... That was quite the mess!

LO has peed on his face at least twice, happens to the best of us no matter how careful or quick you are! I feel terrible when it happens though, mom fail

I let my baby eat her first booger. Since she has no idea how or why to pick her nose, much less eat what she finds, I guess technically I fed her boogers today...

While feeding her, I noticed that she had a bat in the cave, swaying on the ledge, just trying to fly away. I flicked it off, and it landed on my boob. Every time I tried to nab it she would inhale or I'd muck up and it ended up riiiiiiight by her lip. I tried one last time, but she was finally like wtf are you doing? stirred, unlatched, and gobbled it up.

We normally use Pampers but I was gifted some Huggies so I decided to try them out on Wednesday. It took me until today to realize that I've been putting them on backwards. Luckily we haven't had any leaks, but I still feel like such an idiot.

Diapers should come with instructions. With my first, I couldn't figure out why the diapers kept leaking. I wasn't pulling the leg ruffles out. I finally asked my BMB, and someone told me about the ruffles. Problem solved! I felt dumb, but how was I supposed to know?

I made this mistake in the beginning too! I finally googled "how to put on a diaper".

7 weeks in and I've already missed several hunger cues (which resulted in an irate baby with real tears), drove without properly securing the car seat, overdressed and under dressed the baby for outings. Yay mom
